Jesse Hernandez – Red Dragon Tequila

For Red Dragon, Jesse Hernandez turned back the clock on the Tequila figure from Muttpop, transforming the modern day luchador into an ancient aztec warrior.  Beyond a great custom, Red Dragon almost feels like an alternate-universe retelling of Tequila — similar to those "what if" comics we all loved as kids.

Jesse’s Aztec inspired imagery is on full display here particularly on
both sides of the pancho.  The rear of the pancho is perhaps most
impressive as Jesse has taken the original cactus shape and reworked it
seamlessly as a golden bird.  Removing the poncho, Red Dragon’s vibe
switches from elaborately decorated warrior to a primal anicent force.
A sense of the supernatural flows through the beautifully rendered
skull adorned with a golden mask and piercing red pupils down to the massive talons along Red Dragon’s forearm. More than the sum of its detailed parts, Red Dragon presents an artistic vision that forcefully grabs hold of your attention and ignites your imagination.
