Updated:  Fixed distribution ratios per the helpful comment — thanks Jake.

By now almost everybody’s eagerly awaiting Kidrobot’s next Dunny Series, LA Dunny, which drops on Feburary 2nd ’06.  In order to help ease the pain (or maybe just heighten it?), here’s a closer look at two of the figures — one by Gary Baseman and the other by Joe Ledbetter, as well as pics of the packaging. You’ll be happy to know that the quality of both of the pieces we’ve seen is very high — they’re both a joy to look at and hold.  In a pleasant throwback to Series 1, LA Dunny has included artist cards (outside of the inner foil wrapperl so as to avoid "stickage").

Based on the box, there are a total of 16 figures in the series, 13 regular and 3 chase (including 2 mystery).  As for figure distribution, many fans will be relieved to know that the JLed Mr. Bunny Dunny is one of the most common pieces (9600 available) and should be  fairly easy to come by.  See below the "fold" for info about rarity/distribution (gleaned from the box 😉

Here’s what we know (relying on other’s info for some IDs) so far about the rarity of the series figures:

  1. your distributions aren’t quite right. the 1/400 is not the one that comes with the ticket. the ticket is 1/200. and for the distribution to add up to 1 the ??? should be 3/400.
so, it’s likely that the cases are set up in a way similar to s2, where all the cases have 24 spots that are the same and then 1 chase slot. out of 16 cases, the chase slot would contain 12 of the shepard fairey, 3 of the ???, and 1 of the 1/400.

  2. OMG! Thomas Han designed one of the dunnys?! Sh*t! He’s my favorite artist! I’m gonna be on a processing ship from January 2nd to at least late march >< Hope I can find one of the Thomas Han dunnys when I get back on shore.

  3. good to see a fellow Thomas Han fan!
I have two originals from him!
    he’s in the OX-OP 2 series too!!
i’m pretty sure it’s the white one? I see his devils in
the design. His stuff really stands out to me.
    happy hunting!!

  4. Ah I’m so glad the JLeds are one of the most common!
It’s pretty much the only one I like from the series…though undoubtedly many will grow on me, they always do! 😀

  5. From what I’ve seen so far, I think I’m going to be after that Thomas Han one as well.
Also, does it look like KR ‘pinned’ the tail on the Mr. Bunny? Or is JLed just an exceptionally good artist who can fool one’s eye? O_o

  6. No. L: The tail on the Mr. Bunny Dunny is an additional piece attached to the rear of the figure. So, 3d tail 🙂 It may be one of the first dunny’s to have an additional body part — can’t remember any others right off the top of my head.
