Stikovka Exhibition – DIY Trexis in Russia

Sergey wrote in to let us know about the Stikovka custom Trexi exhibition held in Russia from August 5th to August 7th at the DOM cultural center.  As the owner of perhaps the only designer toy store in Russia, Lunohod-1, Sergey organized Stikovka as a way of enouraging Russian artists to participate in the worldwide "Design a Trexi" contest.  Stikovka means "docked" in Russian and in this case refers to the fact that artists were asked to design not only a custom Trexi but also a 2d drawing/painting as a backdrop.  The resultant piece are pretty cool — almost like a diarama (but those were never very cool in my book — or at least mine were not!).  I’ve picked out a few of my personal favorites that do a good job of showing off the 2d/3d combination.  You can find more information about the exhibit as well as pictures of the custom Trexis on the Lunohod-1 website.  While Sergey mentions that there’s "no scene" yet in Russia, thanks to his efforts there may soon be one!
