While I love all sorts of designer vinyl toys (and have the bills to show for that love), I’m a big fan of original customs, most of which are painstakingly created by hand. This post is a litte different as the showcased custom Qee is the collective result of 6 people from the Qeester forum each working on one part of the Qee: head, torso, 2 arms, and 2 leg. The agreed upon theme for the project was "black and white" but otherwise each artist worked independently to produce their respective custom piece. The end result is quite stunning, even more so considering the way it was acheived! Just a quick run-down on the artists (Iisted by forum ID): Romanywg (head), Torso (blackflamer), Tmboo (left arm), Razzle (right arm), D-sifer (left leg), and Berbling Smelt (right leg).
The overall design comprised of these six separate artists’ work flows very well. I think one of the reasons it works so well is there’s loads of interesting detail and variety, yet the black and white theme plus the outstanding quality of each piece results in a trippy and stylish complete figure. I find myself drawn to figures with loads of intricate details and this piece delivers in spades! There are plans to do 2 other Qees in much the same manner. I can’t wait to see how those turn out.
