Preview: Custom Vinnie Show @ VTN

 

In addition to the vendor fair featuring numerous exclusives and special releases, the Winter VTN which starts today and continues through Sunday will also feature a 15" Vinnie custom show.  The VTN mascot comes off the 2D flier and blows up in 3D.  Here's a quick preview of two sweet Vinnie customs from Scott Tolleson and Jim Mahfood (above).

Blokhedz x Marka27 Poster @ VTN (12.6 - 12.7)

If you live in SoCal -- you should definitely plan to spend part of today or Sunday at VTN in Pasadena.  The event features  plenty of exclusives, special releases, and signings.  To celebrate the release of the Blokhedz x Marka27 GID Killa Instinct from Bic Plastics, Mike and Mark of Blokhedz have created a poster that will be given away during their signing. Nice.

Pocketful of Monsters @ VTN (12.6 - 12.7)

The Pocketful of Monsters Crew is ready for the Winter VTN  which opens Today with a whole sleigh full of goodness.   Prints from Angry Woebots and Peekaboo Monster will be available today and Sunday at The Plastic or Paper Booth (#17).

The wild panda stylings of Angry Woebots will be available in three print releases.  First up there’s the Donkey Gone Giclee (ed. of 35, 8.5” x 11”, $60).  Next there''s relief for those that missed on the Fearless Four original canvas drop -- a Fearless Four mini series set (ed. of 25, 4" x 6", $80).  Finally something extremely special -- an extremely limited Blitz and Barrage II (Sibling Rivalry).  This VTN exclusive is limited to 5 pieces, measures 11" x 17", signed and numbered in gold, has gold accents, and will retail for $200.

Peekaboo Monster's toony yet subtly serene work will be available in two prints.  Vision Quest Giclee (from this week's Vivisect 5) is limited to 25 pieces, measures 12" x 24" and will retail for $85.   And... then there's a very special release -- Happy Hunting Assisted Originals (above).  Limited to 5 pieces, each of these  15 x30" pieces feature giclee printing on top of Peekaboo's hand-painted backgrounds.  This new approach combines the unique elements of original pieces with the limited-run aspect of prints. Each of the  five pieces has a different color combo background -- Purple (Purple Night)- Orange (Sunrise)- Pink (Sunset)- Blue (Blue Monday)- Yellow (Golden Sun). These will be $350 @ VTN and $500 afterwards.

Yoskay Yamamoto – Koibito MK Colorway Revealed @ VTN

 

Munky King will  reveal their exclusive Koibito colorway (150 pieces) this weekend @ VTN [12.6 – 12.7].  Until then, here’s a subtle teaser revealing the design motif for this currently ‘secret’ edition. This special colorway plus the gold ‘n black edition (500 pcs) will be released this Thursday, December 11th [7-11 PM] @ Munky King Melrose in drop party and signing.

Amanda Visell’s Evil Poopicorn (12.6)

 

Amanda Visell will release her limited-edition hand-painted Evil Poopicorn resin this Saturday (12.6) @ the VTN Afterparty / Switcheroo Workshop Open House event [7-10 PM]. This black ‘n red piece is the followup to the sold-out Good Poopicorn which was released this summer at SDCC.  Like the previous piece, the Evil Poopicorn is limited to 25 pieces and comes with a mini-print.  It will be available for $400.

If you compare the Good with the Evil, you’ll note that the ice cream is now the ahem –poop—and the poop is well the frozen treat…  Now, that’s evil.  To tide you over until Saturday, here are some nice shots of the finished piece plus a something little extra – a little visual history of the process of painting the figures. 

If you’re going to VTN, be sure to hit the afterparty / open house – it’s your one opportunity to get this rad resin piece and a rare chance to peek behind the scenes at the Switcheroo workshop.  There will even be a few surprise drops.  It’s a deep dark secret ;-)

MG2 BrokenBones "Day of the Dead" Print @ VTN

To celebrate the release of his Day of the Dead Minigod @ VTN (12.6-12.7), Marka27 will also drop a dope black ‘n red  MG2 BrokenBones "Day of the Dead" print at the show. The print is limited to 50 signed and numbered pieces and measures 13x19.  Be sure to check it out.

Andrew Bell's Custom Vinnie for VTN (12.6 - 12.7)

This weekends Winter VTN (12.6 - 12.7) will feature a special custom show featuring one-off artist interpretations of  large 15" Vinnie figures.  VTN's mascot has made the jump from fliers to 3D.  Here's a look at Andrew Bell's piece for the show -- even the funkiest of creatures try to dress up on occasion (with varying results).

Silent Stage will release a limited-edition giclee of Peekaboo Monster's Vision Quest piece @ Vinyl Toy Network this Weekend (12.6 - 12.7) at the Pasadena Convention Center.  This holistic  and serene print is limited to 25 pieces, measures 12" x 24" and will be available at VTN for $85.  Any remaining stock will be sold from Silent Stage's site after the show.

VTN Afterparty and Switcheroo Workshop Open House (12.6)

After day filled with toys, artists, and more what will you do after VTN on Saturday, December 6th ?  Go to the official afterparty of course.  It goes down from 8 to 10 PM (12.6) at the Switcheroo Workshop which is just one mile from VTN. This party / open house is your chance to peek inside Amanda Visell and Michelle Valigura's creative space which is normally closed to the public. 

Maybe you're wondering if Switcheroo is going to drop any product?  Yup!  Amanda Visell's Evil Poopicorns (ed. of 25) will be available for sale.  On the plush side of life, Michelle Valigura will release Brass Knuckle Bob. And... expect a few surprises (that's all we can say about that).  Come for the toys, art, and people and enjoy some free drinks as well.

Blokhedz x Marka27 - GID Blockhedz Killa Instinct

We’ve been wanting to post this ever since we found out about it awhile back.  So we’re stoked to unveil this sweet collabo from Mike and Mark, the guys behind Blokhedz, and Marka27 –- the  GID Blockhedz Killa Instinct from Bic Plastics.

The matte black design is pretty wicked by day with blood splatter on the machete, spiked bat, and arms.  Turn off the lights though and things get really interesting with splashes of GID used for dramatic effect – goggles of the mask, respirator lines, belt buckle, machete, bat, spray can tops…  Great stuff.   More pics after the jump.

This one drops first at the upcoming winter VTN which goes down December 6th and 7th in Pasadena.  See what we meant when we said the list of drops at VTN was mighty impressive? It just grows and grows.

MINDstyle x VTN - Stephan Le Pod & Scavengers Exclusives

Winter VTN is right around the corner – December 6th and 7th at the Pasadena Convention center. If you’re not already pumped up, the  growing list of special releases and exclusives should do the trick.

MINDstyle has added two of the hottest winter releases to the mix. There’s a VTN exclusive 8+” Stephan Le Podd (ed. of 100, $79.99) from Doktor A’s upcoming Mechtorians series  complete with fez.  Goodness comes in all sizes, as the VTN exclusive silver Dexter Scavengers exclusive (ed. of 200, $15.00)  by Kathie Olivas demonstrates.
