Tyson Summer's VP100k Custom Cre8tive Peeples

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and Happy Holidays!  Today we have a look at the 7th and final VP100k Custom Cre8tive Peeples. This superb green devil custom was created by the talented, soon-to-be-star Tyson Summers. Tyson's "Big Art" stands out nicely on the Cre8tive Peeples DIY platform.  Done in a painterly style, this green devil's head complete with striped 3D horns reveals a hard-edged cunning but the body complicates matters with an almost elegant vibe.   Tyson's custom is perhaps best described as an original painting on a 3d platform.  Beyond the creative design, the technique visible through details such as delicate brush strokes enhances its desirability.  These subtle details aren't readily appreciated from pictures and are best viewed in person.  One lucky winner of the VP100k Cre8tive Peeples Giveaway, starting this coming Monday,  will get that chance!  As an added bonus, Tyson's included "making of" pics and a sweet Big Art sticker.

Sket One's VP100K Cre8tive Peeples

Today’s VP100K custom Cre8tive Peeples is doped up by the talented New Haven, CT based artist Sket One. Sket’s first original vinyl creation was the Eggester, a bad ass “eggplant” and his designs for the Dunny series 1 and 2 are well sought after toys by collectors. Sket is no stranger to customizing toys. His one-off customs sells instantly.  For this event, Sket brings us his version of Charlie Brown. We all know the famous character of the comic and cartoon, Peanuts, and we have seen various forms of Charlie, but we have yet to see anything like this. Take a closer look and you will find 2 faces to this Charlie. On one side is the normal, sweet Charlie but give his head a turn and you have the whining, wailing Charlie. I wish I could keep this little fellow!!! Well, one lucky winner is going to get that chance starting next Monday, December 26. Check back tomorrow to see Tyson Summer’s piece. You won’t be disappointed.

PhuEk's VP100k Custom Cre8tive Peeples

Our preview of the VP100K Custom Cre8tive Peeples for the upcoming giveway (12.26) rolls on today with a PhuEktastic piece by PhuEk, of course!  PhuEk's signature PhuEkonaut has made the transition from Trexi to Cre8tive Peeples quite nicely.  PhuEk always manages to pack in detail after detail thanks to his clever use and reuse of pieces from models, toys, and who knows what else ;-)  His VP100K  custom is no different as the PhuEkonaut's gear is intricately realized with dials, hoses, and other high-tech details.  And... if that wasn't enough, PhuEk decided to go the extra mile and add a jet-pack that powers up our intrepid space explorer.  Press the red button and the whole tube work on the back lights up and glows !   Pieces like this make us wish we could enter our own giveaway  :-)  5 down, 2 more to go! As we ease into the home stretch we'll have Sket One's VP100k C8P on Saturday.

Nakanari's Crea8tive Peeples

Today we bring you the 4th custom VP100K Cre8tive Peeples. This one was  done up by Nakanari who is an artist based out of Florida. He's best known as the designer of the Misfits of Nakanari Funny Club figures, the spunky Naka and Nari. His most beloved designs are cute delicious customs doped up in a black and pink color motif. However, this time around he has brought us a new darker look. His Crea8tive Peeples is covered with white and brown blobs and shooting arrows from all directions.  The camouflaged toy comes with his own "gas mask" which appears to be cleverly made out of bottle caps. His menacing eyes piecre through his enemies without remorse.  This fellow isn't one to mess with as he is all ready for combat. Wouldn't you like to win this fella?  You'll have your shot when the giveaway starts next Monday (12.26).  We're halfway through our showcase of the VP100k Cre8tive Peeples -- time flies when you're having fun!  Tomorrow you will get to see PhuEk's creation!!!

MAD's VP100K Custom Cre8tive Peeples

For our 3rd preview of the VP100K Custom Cre8tive Peeples that will be given away starting Monday, December 26th, we have Big Money by  MAD. Yes, the very same MAD who created the dope MAD*L's! Once again, MAD shows off his tight Sharpie skills.  Check out the clean transitions from the head to the body to the "feet".  This is the latest in a series of Big Money customs from MAD that include a Munny, an AniBalloon, and a Vinyl Record -- all rockin' MAD money (sorry couldn't resist).   Though this one is special -- it's beamin' VP100K ;-)  The Big Money design is pretty interesting in that its got black ?clouds? loaded with gold dollars.  Success from adversity?  Or just sweet color combination ;-) Big props to MAD for this custom and also for his key role in making this giveaway a reality.   Ever wished you could own a MAD original ?  Now's your chance -- starting on 12.26, enter to win one of 7 custom C8P's including this bad boy.  On deck?  Nakanari!

Elizabeth Ito's Crea8tive Peeples

The second in line for the  VP100K previews is a Cre8tive Peeps custom by Elizabeth Ito.  Elizabeth is a  local So-Cal gal who graduated from the animation program at Cal Arts. Her wacky and and sometimes strange illustrations have her likened to the works of Gothic painter, Hieronymus Bosch.  In the toy world, she is most known for the super-cute Mister Monster which was based upon a character she developed while she was still a junior in college. She is currently working with Disney on an animated show of her own. With such great skills and funky imagination, I knew I wasn't going to be disappointed and I am certain the winner of this piece won't be either ;-)

At first glance, Elizabeth's piece resembled a plain woman. Then I started to play with it. Turning her face in every direction and positioning her body at different angles. This created her various "looks". In one pose, she was dressed in a Kimono, with her arms tucked underneath her great white sleeves. In another pose, she was a shy, quiet minded cabaret girl, waiting for the lights to come on. Another pose revealed her as a model posing for a glitzy outfit. Your imagination is all you need to create the endless possibilities of Elizabeth's piece. Although she has no name, I think I will call her "Qian Nien" which means "Thousand Faces" in Chinese. What will you call her? Remember this piece  along with all the custom CPs we are featuring this week will be up for grabs on Monday, December 26, 2005. So, mark your calendar!!!  Up next, MAD.

VP100K: Win Doktor A's Oishii Tako Cre8tive Peeples

Our VP100K Cre8tive Peeples Giveaway will start on Monday December 26th. In celebration of breaking 100,000 unique vists (awhile ago actually ;-) we will be giving away seven custom cre8tive peeples.  These customs were done by Doktor A, Elizabeth Ito, MAD, Nakanari, PhuEk, Tyson Summers, and Sket One. We're going to spotlight a different custom CP each day and then you will be able to enter to randomly win one of the seven starting on 12.26.05!  Thanks to the participating artists and By George for providing the Cre8tive Peeples.  Without them this giveway would have been nothing more than a pleasant daydream ;-)

The first of the VP100k CP's comes to us from Doktor A, the father of the Podling, Podule toys, and numerous sweet customs.  His  VP100K piece is titled Oishii Tako or "delicious octopus".  This excellent custom has a nice visual story -- our poor octopus is sweating bullets facing potential doom.  Why?  Take a look at the array of razor sharp teeth closing around him!  And if you remove the CP's head, you'll see the damage has already taken its bloody toll.  The all-paint detail on the face is quite nice and really has to be seen in person to be appreciated.    Tomorrow we'll show off Elizabeth Ito's custom Cre8tive Peeples.

VP100K Event

Update: The VP100k custom CP giveway hasn't started yet. Entries will be accepted once we have all the customs (sometime around December 15th).  Previews of the customs will start soon. Sorry for any confusion.

Happy Thanksgiving!  We have a lot to be thankful for.  First and foremost, we're thankful to you.  You're what makes Vinyl Pulse tick.  We do this because it's fun and it's fun knowing that people find it useful and worthwhile :-) From early April to now, we've gone from 0 to 100k+ visitors and that's thanks to you.  How should we thank you?  A giveaway of course!  Only this time, we have two sweet ones for you.

We've hinted at the first giveaway but here's the lowdown. Customs.  We love customs.  We write about customs all the time on VP.  Give away customs? I thought that was a cool but impossible idea.  Francine  said let's do it  and ran with it. So...  We're stoked to announce on this day of thanks that we'll soon be giving away seven custom Cre8tive Peeples done by some of the top people in the game! It's our way of thanking you, the loyal VP reader! Plus we'll be giving away a three-pack of blank Cre8tive Peeples: Red, White and Black.  Thanks to By George for donating the  Cre8tive Peeples figures -- without them this giveaway wouldn't have happened. If you're looking for an original DIY fig give the Cre8tive Peeples a look! They come in White, Red and Black with several more colors on the horizon.

The giveaway features custom Cre8tive Peeples by:
