Custom 18" My Little Pony Charity Auction Ends on 10.2

tif800poneydeux

To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of My Little Pony, Hasbro has asked artists, designers, celebs and children to customize large 18" versions of the classic toy for The My Little Pony Project.  Participants include tokidoki, Junko Mizuno, Superdeux (above),  Julie West, Jon Burgerman, TADO, Debbie Gibson, LeAnn Rimes, and more.  The customs were seen throughout the year at various events including this year's SDCC.   They are now up for charity auction with bidding set to end tomorrow, Thursday October 2nd at 12PM PDT.  Proceeds from the auction will benefit Give Kids the World a charitable organization focused on bringing happiness to children with life-threatening illnesses. Go check out the auctions -- most of the pieces have rather reasonable bids (some might say cheap).

Riot68 - Zombie Racoon Teddy Trooper Auction for Ava

Riot68 has donated this clean and tight Zombie Racoon Teddy Trooper for a KR board auction to help out Ava who has recently been diagnosed with a very rare childhood cancer.  The auction ends in roughly a week on Thursday, May 18th at 10 PM BST (which I believe is May 18th at 2 PM Pacific).  Props to Steve ofTokyoToyStore for donating the Teddy Trooper.  Riot68's customs get more impressive with each new creation -- this one is straight up cool.

Kozik Mao Dunnys on Ebay

I often watch Ebay both to keep an eye out for things I need for my collection and also just to get an idea of what the market feels various toys might be worth.  Looking at auctions for Kozik's just released (May 1st) Mao Dunny reveals some odd behavior and beginning data on the Ms. Mao chase.

One industrious Ebay seller is offering "exclusive" Frank Kozik Mao Dunnies for the ridiculous price of $39.97 when these are available from Kidrobot for $29.95.  The choice is up to you :-)

On a perhaps more interesting note... The chase (only 100 out of 1098) Ms. Mao is being offered
on Ebay with starting bids ranging from $94 - $97.  It'll be interesting to see how much these pieces eventually fetch.

Qeester Collective Tsunami Charity Auction

Just a quick reminder that  the cool charity auction of custom Qees (and a Dunny or two) on Ebay is under way and ends this Sunday, April 24th.  There are some great pieces being auctioned, so take a look  here and if you can, make a generous bid -- it's for a great cause, helping victims of the December tsunami.  Also, the auction is being run on the English Ebay, so prices are in pounds (double the bid price and that's roughly the price in Dollars).

I thought I might list some of my favorite items here:

So go... Bid! :-)

Custom Qee Auction for Tsunami Relief Aid

An  auction of custom Qees benefitting tsunami relief  starts this Thursday, April 14th on Ebay!  This auction was organized through the Qeester.com message boards and features great one-of-a-kind toys by such notable names as MAD, Sket-One, TADO and Mimic.  The customs cover almost the entire range of Qee shapes and sizes: 8-inch Qees, 2-inch Qees, Knucklebears, and a Baby Qee (MAD's Starface).   So be sure to check out these customs and make as generous a bid as you can afford!  It's for a great cause and you might get an awesome custom toy as well!

There are soo many cool designs but several standout for me:

Sket-one's Ganesh Qee because it's simply beautiful and seems to almost completely transcend its origins as a toy.

Mimic's Yoda Qee because it's very kick ass with a light saber to boot.  Gotta love the facial detail!

Tesselate's LED Qee which I previously blogged about -- just such a neat idea and effect.  I wonder how this is powered? Internal batteries?

And finally, Chad Mount's 2-inch "Why?" Qee is a streamlined yet very compelling design.  In part, the expressive eyes of this figure really add to the overall feeling.  Check it out below:

Baseman Dumb Luck Japan Ebay Trends

Since I was lucky enough to get one of the first 100 Japan (black) versions of Baseman's Dumb Luck signed at Kidrobot LA's opening party, I have been periodically watching Ebay for auctions of this toy mostly out of curiosity.  Up until very recently, signed versions have been going for $275 - $315 or so.
The value has dropped in recent weeks as several hundred more became available at a recent AIGA event and now seems to be about $200 - $250.  Of the current completed auctions, the highest selling price was for a signed one at $255.  So there seems to be a small premium for a signed copy.

On Ebay -- FULL set of Dunny Series One

As Dunny collectors know, Series 1 Dunnys are hard to come by and fairly expensive due to that rarity.  Typically, single figures from Series 1 run about $30.  Full sets go for quite a bit (upwards of $800 or so).  Right now there's an auction on ebay for a  full set (silver and gold included).  With roughly 3 hours to go (7:48 PM PST), the high bid is $415 which is a very reasonable price.    I assume that the price will go up -- it's tempting but that's too rich for my blood. Just thought some of you might be interested.

Update: The full set went for $620 which seems a little low to me, although I have not systematically tracked such sales.

Check it here.
