Vitality and Verve: Transforming the Urban Landscape at Long Beach Museum of Art (6.26)

While we enjoy street art  getting its due in galleries and museums, we often feel that the confines of a frame limit artists who excel in creating massive murals.  If you feel similarly, the upcoming Vitality and Verve: Transforming the Urban Landscape which opens on Friday (6.26) at the Long Beach Museum of Art is a must-see event.  A collaboration between Thinkspace Gallery, Pow! Wow and the museum, the group show features indoor murals and site-specific installations from an impressive roster including Aaron Horkey, Alex Yanes, Andrew Schoultz, Audrey Kawasaki, Brendan Monroe, Cryptik, Esao Andrews, Greg ‘Craola’ Simkins, Hot Tea, James Bullough, Jason Scroggin, Jeff Soto, John S. Culqui, Low Bros, Meggs, Nosego, Nychos, Saber and Tristan Eaton. The show will also feature a photo exhibition from Brandon Shigeta.

A perfect compliment to the ongoing Pow! Wow! Long Beach, Vitality and Verve opens on Friday with the ticketed LBMA After Dark event ($10, 7 to 10 PM).  Hit the jump for a few previews from Thinkspace’s instagram.
