Kidrobot Reveals Junko Mizuno’s Violet Soda Lady Dunny and SDCC Exclusive

unnamed

After a few tantalizing teases, Kidrobot has officially revealed Junko Mizuno’s Violet Soda Lady Dunny (8”) which is due in July from KR and retail shops.  The ‘bot also revealed the SDCC exclusive Berry Chocolate Lady Dunny.  Continuing the design theme of her previous Purple Soda Girl Dunny (Dunny 2012), the new 8” pieces feature an intricate mix of opaque and translucent elements along with several custom sculpted elements including the hair, Dunny-ish “bubbles”(?) and a flamboyant heart.

In talking about the design of her latest Dunnys, Junko mentions that “ The Purple Soda Girl Dunny that I designed in 2012 was very hard to create, so I’m really happy & excited that her big sisters, Violet Soda Lady and Berry Chocolate Lady, are coming out! I hope they will find a lot of happy owners! I think of my Purple Soda Girl Dunny from 2012 as a daughter of Kuro Megami that I designed for Kidrobot Black Series. When I designed her, I was using the photos I took of old god and goddess statues at Asian Art Museum as reference. So Kuro Megami is kind of like a goddess representing my art. Purple Soda Girl and the two new 8” Dunny’s are all her daughters who have the same goddess-like feeling.”

The exclusive Berry Chocolate Lady Dunny [#5645] will be available from the KR booth for $100. Junko will be signing at the  booth on from 1 PM – 3 PM on both Thursday (7.9) and Friday (7.10).
