Jason Freeny will be in LA for the opening of his Molt solo at La Luz de Jesus on Friday evening (2.6). The apt title describes a transition in his art from his signature “dissected” toy aesthetic to a more pared down sculptural style. The new work features original characters realized in a playful manner emphasizing form, volume, and clean, rounded surfaces. While we—along with most everyone else on this planet—love Freeny’s dissected work, we’re happy to see him evolve his style with work that is exciting in its own right. In addition to Molt, La Luz will also simultaneously open Miso’s Cornucopia.
