Boom. A few days ago Amanda Visell sent out a flier for her upcoming collaboration with the alchemists at Coarse for the Bloom Art Fair in Cologne, Germany [10.24 – 10.27]. Little did we know that the flier painting of a house-phunt ablaze was going to be the basis for a crazy large-scale resin sculpture.
‘First Days of Despair’ revisits the theme of wide-eyed, seemingly innocent children wreaking havoc captured nicely by their previous collaborative piece — ‘The Last Day of Autumn’. Rather than simply translating Amanda’s painting into 3D, Coarse sculpted the ‘house’ piece in their own aesthetic, making it a true collaborative effort.
Several of Amanda’s paintings, this sculpture and perhaps more (!) will be on display at the Art Scouting Gallery’s booth (BL-B010) at the fair.
