Adventure Time x Kidrobot – Coming 2015!?
It looks like Kidrobot has picked up their newest licensing project for 2015! What can we expect from these two? Toys? Apparel? Being Adventure Time fans ourselves, we cannot wait to see what they come up with. Is it just us or does the art style of Finn, Jake, and BMO remind you of MAD? It’s just a guess.
Taylored Curiosities x Sergey Safonov – Moon Seedlings
Taylored Curiosities has teamed up with Sergey Safonov for their latest release, the Moon Seedlings. This limited release features our favorite hand sculpted seedlings cast in porcelain, with woolen sprouts and felt scarves from Taylored Curiosities and the Dream Boats we often see from Sergey’s toy releases. Each one comes signed and numbered out of 5 (5 Blue & 5 Red). The big seedling stands a little over 2” and the smaller seedling over 1”. You can find them available HERE for roughly $85. You can also check out a couple of Taylored Curiosities’ new terrariums HERE and HERE.
Joe Ledbetter – First Self-Produced Vinyl Toy
We love surprises. So we're happy to report that Joe Ledbetter is teasing his ‘first independent vinyl figure’. Very cool –- nice to see artists taking more of a role in the production of toys of their art. Based on the image, looks like this one is coming later this month (‘June 2014’).
3DRetro x Nathan Ota – Suited Birdies Heart Edition
We’ve mentioned Nathan Ota’s sweet upcoming Suited Birdies from 3DRetro before, but now we’ve got these nice promo pics to share as well as full release info. Drawn from Nathan’s luminous paintings, the Suited Birdies Heart Edition is sized to match a real bird (~ 5” ?), is limited to 200 pieces and will retail for $55. Your first chance to pick up the snazzy new toy is at the 3DRetro Retail Store Grand Opening (6.21) in Glendale.
And… just because I just watched Toybreak and might have heard something about a 3DRetro challenge coin with art from Brandt Peters ($10) once or twice or three times… I’ll mention that if you buy the magical coin, any purchases you make at the new retail shop will be 10% off as long as you bring the coin with you.
Quiccs Maiquez - TEQ63: Zero1 DIY Platform Toy
Quiccs Maiquez will soon be releasing his very own DIY platform figure, the TEQ63: Zero1. Each figure is made of resin and stands 3.5” tall with articulation in the head. They will be available during the first week of July HERE and at the International Platform Toy Exhibition at the Bangkok Comic Con. What can you imagine up with this DIY?
Ron English – Dinogrenade Toy
Ron English’s Popganda Toy Factory is working overtime. He just released his Drug ‘Em Killfrog and now he’s teasing his new Dinogrenade as ‘coming soon’. Previously appearing in his paintings, Dinogrenade is classic Ron English –- blending outlandishly iconic pop culture with military oppression. The use of the grenade texture as the ‘scales’ and tail of the creature is pretty clever.
3DRetro Grand Opening – Toy Drops & Craola Tee (6.21)
In talking about Saturday’s Grand Opening of the 3DRetro store in Glendale, we mentioned that the event would see the release of the brand’s newest vinyl toy – Nathan Ota’s Suited Birdies Heart Edition. It turns out that 3Dretro has a few more releases in store that will be of particular interest to those who missed DCon. Both Nathan Hamill’s GID Strife and Sire and Scott Tolleson’s Moonshine Bitta Critta (GID) were released at Dcon and have not available since, that is until they drop again at the Grand Opening event. Also, Beast Brothers collectors will be happy to hear that 3DRetro will also release their exclusive Green + Pink Calverita sofubi (20 pieces available).
In addition to the toy announcements, Craola has designed an exclusive 3DRetro Tee for the opening, to be live-screened by the folks from To Die For clothing. All of the mentioned artists will in 3DRetro’s new house – so come on by if you can.
