Michael Lau -- ‘remember-disc time-travel’ exhibition
Michael Lau’s ‘remember-disc time-travel’ exhibition opened last night (5.15) in HK at his pop-up gallery in Causeway Bay, to coincide with Art Basel HK. As we mentioned before, the show pieces were based on quotes that inspired or resonated with the artist. Lau created forty-four pieces for the exhibition matching his current age, thirty-five circular (disc) pieces – sixteen on wood and nineteen on canvas as well as nine stainless steel sculptures presented on Danish wood tables.
Since we’re toy people, we’re enjoying the stainless steel sculptures of signature Michael Lau characters. Any of these pieces would make a great centerpiece to a collection of his art toys. On the 2D side, the circular pieces featuring his unique character aesthetic are quite nice as well.
