Blackbook Toy x Lamour Supreme x Mishka – Halloween Keep Watch Bank (10.24)
It’s October so that means plenty of Halloween exclusives including Blackbook Toy’s Halloween Keep Watch Bank created by Lamour Supreme and Mishka. This special edition features a black, orange and white spray on top of vibrant translucent orange vinyl. This is our favorite colorway of the eyeball bank so far – the back-side with the escaping demon looks ridiculous. The Halloween Keep Watch Bank drops on Thursday October 24th @ 8 AM PDT for 7500 yen (~ $75) direct from Blackbook.
Mintyfresh x Clogtwo – Black Trooper Lotus (10.18)
Mintyfresh is gearing up to release its exclusive Black Trooper Lotus from Clogtwo and Mighty Jaxx. This is the second and final version of the Trooper Lotus resin sculpture created specifically for Minty Fresh. The 8” piece blends Clogtwo’s hell lotus with an imperial storm trooper. Limited to 8 pieces, the Black Trooper Lotus will drop on Friday (10.18) @ 9 AM PDT for 179.95 euros (~ $245.87) at mintyfresh.eu.
Brian McCarty -- War-Toys Vol 1. Book + NYC Exhibition (11.5)
For the past several years, toy photographer extraordinaire Brian McCarty has been travelling to warn torn regions to explore and document children’s experiences of armed conflict as part of his ‘War-Toys’ project. The project draws its name from the narrative process used to engage children in which they create drawings and pose toys to relate their experiences of war in a manner that reduces stigma or emotional barriers.
Having completed the first phase of his project in Israel and the Gaza strip, Brian has compiled the work into his new War-Toys Vol 1. Book and is about to open a War-Toys exhibit (11.5) in NYC at the Peanut Underground curated by Tinca Art.
Available in both a regular ($32) and a special edition ($125), the 80 page book features 75 photographs and illustrations relating children’s memories of war as well as an introduction in English, Arabic, and Hebrew; essays by renowned expressive therapy experts Dr. Judith Rubin and Dr. Julia Byers; and a narrative account of the production of the project. Limited to 50 books, the special edition features a special foil stamped cover, signed/numbered title page, a pewter toy artifact (34 mm) molded by Pretty in Plastic of the actual plastic army man toy used in the Wall Shooting photograph, a signed/numbered 5” x 7” Wall Shooting Print and a certificate of authenticity. Both versions of the book are available for pre-order on Brian McCarty’s site. The book will be released on November 12th.
McBess x Kidrobot – Les Viandardes in Vinyl
Kidrobot just announced their McBess Capsule Collection featuring brand-new apparel including a bomber jacket, caps, several tees including a Les Vinadardes design featuring his buxom, axe wielding, tattooed femme fatales (more pics after the jump). While the clothes are cool, what really caught our attention is the upcoming Les Viandardes vinyl toy (10”, $199), featuring the sexy partners in crime. Really impressed by this one – stylish, sexy, and yes – urban, without apologies. Look for this one to drop on Halloween (10.31). While KR takes their share of complaints about the wave of pop culture licensed toys (largely unjustly btw) and such, every once in awhile they flex their art toy chops and this is a prime example.
Gary Ham x Andrew Bell – Trickertreat Halloween Android (10.21)
Just in time for everyone’s favorite ‘dark’ holiday comes the Trickertreat Android by Gary Ham and Andrew Bell. Gary’s two-faced design featuring both happy and sad Jack-o-lantern expressions ships in an illustrated window box. Trickertreat will be released on Monday (10.21) from the Dead Zebra Shop for $10 (+ s/h) at two separate times – 11 AM EDT and 11 PM EDT. If you want to score the treat, rather than be ‘tricked’ – stay sharp and hit the shop right when these drop.
Koraters x Medicom – Banpo Special Edition
Japanese artist Koraters worked with artist/sculptor T9G to turn her Banpo character into a vinyl toy. The cute and quirky Banpo is a ghostly creation arisen from the bones of birds who have passed on. For production, Koraters is working with Medicom who is currently offering a pre-order on a special edition of the figure.
The Medicom special edition features two 1.7” Banpo characters (Gray + Black) atop a small swing made of real wood complete with metal chain. This unusual hanging piece creates the illusion of two bird sprits nestled high up in a tree. However, perhaps completely unintentionally – the wire support structure invokes a different meaning for me as well with its similarity to a bird cage. The unique piece is currently available via Medicom for 5800 yen (~ $58) for overseas ordering through Halloween (10.31).

Ferg x Rotofugi – Squadt Assembly 1.1 (10.18)
Rotofugi and Ferg are following up April’s Squadt Assembly exhibit/pop-up with a new online only Squadt Assembly 1.1 event beginning on Friday (10.18) with two parts. First, Ferg has created a special Gray, white and blue Tongueless Gohst figure (200 pcs, $90) for customers to assemble with exactly the clothes and gear they wish similar to the first event. Online customizing of the Tongueless Gohsts will start on Friday (10.18) @ 2 PM CDT at the Squadt Assembly Build site.
In addition to the classic Assembly style figure building, there’s a ‘Built by Ferg’ online exhibit featuring 15 Squadts customized and loaded out by Ferg. Eleven of these pieces are based on the Tongueless Gosht (with special lense colors) while the other four feature specimens from the original exhibit. Rotofugi will be selling the Built by Ferg exhibits via lottery to be drawn on Monday (10.21). If you’d like a chance to buy one of these special figures, sign-up for the lottery before 10 AM CDT on 10.21.
If you love Squadts and are looking for something special to add to your collection, Squadt Assembly 1.1 is a great opportunity.
