ToyQube caught us pleasantly off guard with this sneak peek of a new sculpture they are working on with celebrated painter Josh Keyes. Excited with the news and hungry for more, we spoke to TQ founder Keith Poon and while he couldn’t reveal any more about the upcoming piece, he did mention that TQ’s Signature Series is an opportunity to once again partake in the magic of creating 3 dimensional representations of great paintings. Instead of doing so through vinyl art toys, TQ is working with talented painters to produce highly-detailed sculptures for collectors. For vinyl fans, rest assured that TQ has more in store on that front as well.
We’re definitely excited about TQ’s new signature series and wondering what the new Josh Keyes piece will look like. After staring at the teaser and looking through Josh’s work, one possibility is Lifted II (picture after the jump) which features a circus elephant, neck deep in water, helping a baby tiger survive by lifting the scared predator above it all on his forehead. Total speculation on our part, but the skin texture + what appears to be a string of circus style flags makes us think it’s a definite possibility. Now, how this would be realized… We’re not quite sure. Time will tell.
