PapaBehr – A Kick Butt Robotic Bear w/USB and Magnetic Powers

001-PapaBehr_1 copy

PapaBehr is an intricate kick butt scientist turned avenging robotic bear figure that just happens to double as a USB drive to add some practicality to the fun.  Designed by David Ngyuen and his uncle, Guy ‘Tuy’ Buckner, who happens to be a CAD expert and the owner of one sweet 3D printer.  Being true toy nerds, they decided that it wasn’t enough just to cool have a wicked looking robo bear with a removable head with an embedded USB drive. Nope – PapaBehr needed something more  … magnets. Magnets are the magic behind the toy’s snap on and off armor,  and sword (with removable sheath).  The team designed, 3d modeled the character, created a prototype using that crazy printer (SLA by the looks of the  resin reservoir), painted it

With the proto complete including packaging, David and his team are looking to let their creation loose into cubicles and homes everywhere.  In order to raise the money to produce PapaBehr, they’ve just launched a KickStarter campaign with the goal of raising $20k.  There are plenty of cool rewards including DIY editions ($30), painted editions ($35), prints, tees and more.  What’s intriguing  is that they have also posted stretch goals beyond the initial 20k. So many campaigns tend to raise way more money than the target goal, yet backers don’t benefit from that.  Now they do.   Any backer who donates at least $100 (heroic mode) will receive additional bonus rewards with each stretch goal met (35, 50, 65, 80, 100k,…).
