Now this is a cool idea. Kidrobot is releasing five 3” City ‘Bots mini-mascot figures, one for each store – New York, San Francisco, LA, Miami and London. Each city’s figure will be available exclusively from that city’s KR location. So if you want all five, you’re going to have to hop on a plane, or look into mules or some other source. Fun! As you might expect, each figure’s design reflects some aspect (in many cases caricature) of the city including the Statue of Liberty for NYC, hippie culture and Chinese-takeout (the machine-like take-out box handle is a nice touch)for SF, the Royal Guard (talk about big heads…) for London, neon-tinged tourism for Miami and thug-life for LA. Artistically, the LA design has MAD written all over it, while the inclusion of the NYC pigeon reminds us of PON – strictly fun speculation. The City ‘Bots drop on June 21st for $11.95 each.
