Canadian designer Nicholas Tay released his Gup Gup platform vinyl in Hong Kong back in November.  Today Gup Gup, based on Buddhist and Shintoist inspirations, is extending his happy, helpful reach with a brand new website – gupgups.com.

So far Gup Gup is available in a 3” DIY edition ($6.95), a very cool HK special edition (above, $7.95), two very limited 15” editions ($249.95, 100 pcs), and finally  a 15” DIY edition ($149.95). Up next – five new special edition 3” designs.

Creating a new, cool, successful platform is anything but easy.  So far, Gup Gup seems to have potential. Maybe we’re just fond of the idea of a Monk platform – the little tuff of hair is a nice touch.  Not sure about the wide pose of the arms.   We’re digging the ceramic inspired HK edition and the two larger 15” designs are eye-catching as well.  It’d be great to see 3” versions of the 15” ones.     Finally, to  celebrate the new web site, there’s a contest to win a DIY Gup Gup or Gup Gup tee, see the flier after the jump.
