The long-awaited Monsters and Misfits show featuring work from three Circus Posterus artists – Kathie Olivas, Brandt Peters, and Chris Ryniak opened at the Kusakabe Folk Museum in Japan.  Organized by Japanese toy boutique Tomenosuke, the exhibit features original paintings and sculptures displayed within the context of a traditional Japanese setting.  Courtesy of Tomenosuke, here are several pictures of the beautiful and elegant exhibition display.

This special art show takes on new signifcance in light of the devastating series of disasters recently suffered by Japan.  100% of the proceeds from the regular edition of the show catalog as well as a portion of other items will be donated to assist disaster recovery via Tomenosuke’s Toys Help Us project.

Many of the limited-edition show items are currently available via the Monsters and Misfits preview site, including both the regular ($10) and special editions ($100) of the catalog as well as Chris Ryniak’s Bubblegut resin (66 pcs, $120).  Limited to 100 pcs, the special edition catalog includes the ‘Goodnight Moon’ mini-print from Kathie Olivas and Brandt Peters as well as Chris Ryniak’s ‘Blue Crumbeater’ mini resin figure.

More items from the show including the original artwork will be placed online for viewing and purchase @ 8 PM PDT today (April 13th 2011). Finally, many (all?) of the limited edition items will be sold online through Circus Posterus at a later date (late april is the current estimate).
