Chauskoskis — ‘The Queen is Missing’ for When Worlds Collide (2.25)

WWC • The Queen is Missing • Chauskoskis-44_001

For the 7-person ‘When Worlds Collide’ show opening on Friday (2.25)  @ Screaming Sky gallery in Portland, Chauskoskis has created ‘The Queen is Missing’, his imaginative take on Chess.  Here’s an exclusive preview of this ambitious project  which features a whopping fifteen figures

In approaching this show, Chauskoskis was looking to let his creativity flow without worrying about  making the most intricate sculpts.  In short he was just looking to have fun.  He did just that, creating seven original sculpts – inhabitants of his twisted world of Chess.   Going with wherever his carefree spirit led, he swapped out the Knights with what else, Pigs armed to the teeth with corn hammers. !  Hmmm… Where are the Rooks?  They’ve been replaced with two burly apes ready to unleash their grenades on the other side’s pieces. The Frog King is backed up by his two Alligator Bishops and  a phalanx of eight custom Dunny pawns.   Personally, these new vibrant characters are spot-on, mixing Chauskoskis’s sweet ‘toon tinged aesthetic with just the right level of detail to bring them to life. Bold, defiant, silly, and cute?  Yup.

Where’s the Queen?  Why dear sir… She’s missing. If you’d like to find her, feel free to contact Chauskoskis about commissioning him to create an OG Queen sculpt with your input.

If you find yourself in Portland, be sure to checkout When Worlds Collide featuring the work of Josh f+ Pearce (curator), DrilOne, ZAM, Map Map, Nerviswr3k, Kevin Gosselin, and of course Walter ‘Chauskoskis’ Jacott.
