Chauskoskis -- CataRino Pistola for the Jouwe Show (WIP)
While I wouldn’t normally post a work-in-progress custom, I’m enjoying Chauskoskis’s CataRino Pistola custom Jouwe way too much not to share this one right now. Created for the upcoming Jouwe show in Germany (October 2nd 2010), he has pulled out all the stops with custom sculpting from head to toe with excellent results. While you can still recognize the Jouwe, Chauskoskis has gone beyond the call of duty – this is is an almost complete transformation envisioning the existence of the ‘Rhino Squad’. While we’re left to wonder about their backstory, the Rhino Squad apparently goes into battle donning Rhino-shaped Battle Helmets. The from-scratch pistol and removable rhino helmet push the toy geek quotient over the edge. At the risk of appearing to be on his payroll, this piece is the latest reason why Chauskoskis sits right near the top of my ‘best cutomizers’ list floating around in my head.

J*Ryu -- ‘Til the End of the World’
J*Ryu started with an 8” Hazel by Kathie Olivas and then proceeded to transform it into a magical tree house dedicated to Mattia Fagnoni, an italian child stricken with Sandhoff Syndrome – a devastating genetic condition which results in celluar degeneration. In order to assist in the search for a cure, J*Ryu contributed ‘Til the End of the World’ to the Zerostigmata Benefit Collective which raises funds for scientific research.
The piece is at once a tour de force of custom sculpting and a heartbreaking, yet ultimately uplifting tribute to Mattia and others suffering from Sandhoff, Taysachs and other related conditions. The subtle touches including the mini comics, teddy bear, and hidden treasure chest capture the precious essence of childhood. Great piece. Chris Ryniak -- ‘This Could get Ugly’ (9.24) @ myplasticheartnyc
Chris Ryniak will bring his menagerie of curious creatures (ok… maybe monsters is more appropriate) to NYC for the opening of his ‘This Could Get Ugly’ solo on Friday, September 24th 2010 @ myplasticheartnyc. Chris is bringing a double-barreled set of new work featuring both new customs and paintings. Hit the jump for a little preview of one of his customs. Finally over the labor day weekend, myplasticheart redid their online store – so if you haven’t been to their site in a bit, now would be a good chance to check ‘em out.

Dragatomi Presents: Mai Hiro x Fury Animals in Fury Planet (09.11)
Taking place on Saturday, September 11th at Dragatomi will be a duo show, featuring the artwork of Mai Hiro & Fury Animals. Fury Planet will be the first time Fury Animals will be exhibiting their work in the States. They will also be showing off their 12” Fury Bunny, which we last talked about HERE. They will both be bringing a lot of amazing work and merchandise. This should be an awesome show and did I mention Ms. Linda Le will be attending the show as well!

Reign Presents: Nakanari in We Make It Reign (Show Pics)
Last week was the opening of Nakanari & SouJohn’s “We Make It Reign” show at Reign in Florida, where he shared his customs, paintings, and figures with the attendees. Dave “outtamymind” Quilles also displayed some of his amazing jewelry. Tony was on site to sketch and and meet with the fans as well. Check out the pics from the show after the jump.
