Tara McPherson – Lilitu for Kidrobot Black ?

ap_F23_20100706015211420

Leaks and other advanced bits of info are part of what make toy blogging fun.  However, I think it’s important to be clear about what we know and what we don’t know in these cases.  The latest ‘leak’ is Tara McPherson’s Lilitu design (apparently based on an original painting) for Kidrobot Black.  Here’s what we know, the image + design were taken from Tara’s presentation @ the recent OFFF 2010 design conference in Paris.  What we don’t know is if this indeed will be released as a Kidrobot Black figure (though given the text on the slide, it seems like a good bet).  We also don’t know if this is actually KR Black #3 as has been reported around the net [Full source disclosure: Spotted on J.Me’s blog and tracked back to RSNY’s flickr].

That said, what do you think of this design ?  Looks pretty promising to me, curious how the lake/body of water would look as a thin flat surface.

Mr. Clement – Petit Lapin Museum Ed. #1

Petit-Lapin-Museum-ONE

A few days ago we posted about Mr. Clement’s return to handmade pieces.  At the time all we had was a teaser image.  Now comes full info and  photos of his large Lapin sculpture -- “When I look at the Sky, I can See your Smile”.  Limited to 50 pieces, the handmade sculpture featuring a bird companion stands nearly 16 inches tall and tips the scale at slightly over 4.5 pounds.

Beyond the larger size, the draw of this new sculpture is that each one is handmade by Mr. Clement himself.  The sculpture also comes with a small original painting (5” x 4”).  Pre-orders are being accepted now (£200, ~ $303).  Mr. Clement expects to ship the pieces in Mid-August.  Finally,  the little all too familiar museum style warnings on the base are great – no touching, no photography!

Patricio Oliver x Raje Toys – Beast Rider WIP

fire-beast-006

Raje Toys has released in-progress pics of their upcoming Beast Rider (tentative name?) figures from Patricio Oliver.  The pics appear to be digital renders of the intended sculpt.  As you can see, the Riders are currently AWOL.  The Beasts look like they will feature quite a bit of detail – dig the raised deco elements (skull etc).  Based on previous news from Patricio, we expect there to be Fire and Ice versions.

Scribe – Custom Skelves

photo 3 photo 2
Scribe just posted up photos of two very nice customs of Brandt Peters’ Skelves..  Both winged customs feature what we would describe as a stealth design – Scribe’s signature character look is only really visible once the pieces are unmasked.   While both are nice, really digging the abstract art influenced green/blue piece.
