Behind the Scenes – Yoskay Yamamoto’s Installation @ LBP (2.20)

I had the pleasure of dropping by Lebasse Projects on Thursday as Yoskay Yamamoto was putting the finishing touches on his eye-popping yet serene installation  for his Tell Me a Story exhibition in the project room.  The unveiling of the installation this Saturday (2.20, 7-11 PM) will coincide with the opening of a solo show by the prolific and immensely talented  visual artist Yoshitaka Amano.

If you had the pleasure of seeing Yoskay’s installation from his solo last year, let’s just say this one goes way beyond.  Yoskay has put countless hours into its creation and 10+ hours installing at the gallery.  You’ll definitely want to see it in person, stand in the room and absorb it.

Also as many of you know, Lebasse Projects will release their first sculptural edition – a resin wall-mounted head sculpture from Yoskay.  Painted in alabaster white, this is limited to just ten pieces at $500 each (pic after the jump).  These look great in person.  The sculpt is well-defined and clean.  The key for me is the physical  depth of the piece which accentuates the curvature of the face giving it a life and a presence that a flatter piece would not have.

If you’re a fan/collector of either Yoskay Yamamoto or Yoshitaka Amano, this show is a must-see.
