Kenny Scharf x MINDstyle – Flinstones and Jetsons

When MINDstyle first announced their upcoming Flinstones and Jetsons ATC figures they briefly mentioned an artist collaboration.  That artist has been revealed to be none other than the well-respected Kenny Scharf who started his career in the 80’s in NYC. He was a part of the East Village art scene which  starred Andy Warhol and Keith Haring.   His work has often incorporated cartoon characters as a way of blending pop culture and fine art.  His most recent solo show at Honor Fraser in Culver City  featured paintings drawing upon both old-school Hanna-Barbera cartoons.  This is an ideal crossover featuring the newly licensed properties since it ties directly into Scharf’s existing body of work [via MINDstyle blog]
