Factory Hand Paint Edition Mongolions!!
Super7’s rotating banner revealed a special release, which is me making giddy like a little school girl! Slated to be released sometime in mid January is the FHP (Factory Handpaint) Mongolion by L’amour Supreme, which matches the Original HP’s from head to toe. These figures were originally supposed to be released for Joel’s solo show at S7 in October. Unfortunately, things happen in the factory and the project had to be pushed back. Bu,t they are here now! No word on whether or not these will be available online, but they most definitely will be available in store. Choosing the one you want may be tough, because Alex of S7 notes that the choice of figures may not be up to you (blind?). The good thing is that you will be able to purchase 2! So if you get doubles, trade with someone who gets doubles of the opposite figure!

Preview: Chauskoskis for When Hell Freezes Over (1.8)
On the eve of the When Hell Freezes Over opening (1.8), a group custom show featuring artist interpretations of Lou Pimentel’s Cranston Fellows Jr. resin figure, we’re happy to bring you a look at an incredible piece.
With Papi Cranston, Chauskoskis has taken the base Cranston figure and transformed it into a demon whose story seems to unfold naturally through his shape, his gangly arms, and his facial expression. Chauskoskis has quickly impressed collectors with his super detailed sculpting ability which is on full display with this piece.
If you’re fortunate to be near NYC, make plans to drop on over to myplasticheartnyc for the show opening this Friday evening from 6 to 9 PM.

Touma – Kazu Mouse Maziora @ Tokyo Auto Salon
Touma will be showing a new army of Kazu Mouse figures @ the Tokyo Auto Salon (1.15 – 1.17). While the location might seem odd at first, it makes sense since these figures are painted with Maziora, a trippy polarizing paint often used on cars. The result is a metallic finish that color shifts depending on the angle of view. It appears these sweet pieces will be available for sale, though we’re checking for confirmation. This is at least the second collaboration between Touma and Nippon Paint – check the Maziora info page for a little surprise. Recognize the characters?

Mist - Lucius Sneak Peek
Artoyz Originals has several releases planned for the first quarter including Lucius (6”) from Mist shown above in a sweet teaser. You might remember that we posted sculpt pics of this figure under its original name, Gesus. The sculpt is nice but the revealed deco really sets it off. The paint job has a nice splotchy quality reminiscent of his graff and feels like a fresh change of pace from the clean vector-like designs we see often today. Lucius is due for a January/February drop. Lookin’ good.
Martin Wittfooth– Aesop’s Folly

Painter Martin Wittfooth will debut his upcoming Aesop’s Folly vinyl (6”) with three hand-painted pieces (above) in the Cry For Help art show which opens this Friday, January 8th, 2010 @ Thinkspace. The full production figures will be released shortly in two colorways (editions of 250) from newcomer Big Spoon Toys. Aseop’s Fable will apparently be the first production vinyl to be released from the new brand.
With its combination of surreal design and realistic details, Aesop’s Folly should inject a dose of originality into the sometimes overly predictable world of art toys. Quite honestly having seen Wittfooth’s intricate wild-life paintings, we never expected him to do a toy. Definitely a pleasant surprise. No details yet on the production colorways. Hopefully there will be a ‘natural’ edition.
