Sam Flores x Upper Playground x The Loyal Subjects -- Wyger

tg20709ty

Who says lightning doesn’t strike twice?  Fresh off the ‘sold out’ success of his Kid Dragon figure, comes Sam Flores’s  Wyger, his second original art toy commemorating Upper Playground’s 10th Anniversary.  Produced by the Loyal Subjects, Wyger offers a compelling interpretation of Upper Playground’s walrus mascot brought to life seamlessly in Sam’s signature aesthetic.   Blending elements of a  Walrus and a Tiger, Wyger features the tusks of the former and overall appearance of the latter.

Standing 8” tall, Wyger  utilizes detailed gradient blending and stripe detail for a ‘natural’ look that is faithful to Flores’s design.  The first orange edition shown here is limited to 500 pieces and is available now for preorder from  Upper Playground  and the Loyal Subjects for $78.50.  Wyger will ship in a double-sided window box featuring spot UV details and a gold foil backing card.

In addition to this first Orange edition, The Loyal Subjects will release two additional Wygers including an Upper Playground exclusive.

Kenny Wong posted this curious WIP digital mockup on Facebook.  It looks like he’s applying design cues from his Copperhead universe to Molly for a new mini figure. With the one antenna, it looks like a deep sea Molly Bee.

Ashley Wood x 3A – WWRp Armstrong

A great preview image of the upcoming WWRp Armstrong recently went up on the ThreeA Production blog.  Very nice indeed.  We believe Armstrong is the third ‘bot to get the 1:12 WWRp treatment (Bramble and Bertie mk2 being the others).  Ashley Wood and ThreeA have been quietly producing hit after hit for their loyal collector base – not an easy task.  Impressive.

Kaiju Invades SF: Video Interviews to the Max

As part of the ongoing Kaiju Invades SF! show, Double Punch interviewed both Yajima-san of Dream Rockets (above) and Ichimiya-San of Sunguts (below). Be sure to enable subtitles (cc) from the Youtube player menu.   In addition, Toybot Studios interviewed Yajima-san, Ichimiya-San, and Matt Walker of Dead Presidents designs. Happy viewing – these five well-done interviews provide insight into the creative efforts of these artists.   The show continues through the 30th, so there’s still time to pick up pieces from Sunguts, Max Toy Company, Dead Presidents and Dream Rockets.
