This year it’s He-man and the Masters of the Universe opening on Friday, January 8th 2010 (7-10 PM). He-Man, Skeletor, She-Ra and Castle Grayskull were all the rage at one point (ok, I feel OLD). Enjoy this preview featuring the work of Martin Hsu (above), Jake Waldron, Audrey Pongracz, Terribly Odd, Ken Keirns and Drake Brodahl . Enjoy.

Ashley Wood x 3A – XMAS02 (4:59 PM PST on 12.24)
Ashley Wood’s surprise XMAS02 release goes on sales Thursday, December 24th @ 4:59 PM Pacifc from Bambaland. No sure word on what’s being dropped (it’s a surprise afterall) but many are thinking it’s a WWRp (1:12) scale drop. Given the scrambled text and numbers, we’re pretty sure the mysterious graphic above is a teaser for XMAS 02 (12/25/09, Bambaland). Finally, there will apparently be 3 figures in tomorrow’s shadow drop. Enjoy.
Ashley Wood x 3A – Adventure Kartel: Tommy Mission
Things are always jumping at 3A. While collectors are buzzing about the WWR Dropcloth (which made a quick appearance with today’s Peaceday XMAS03 limited sale), there’s a new Ashley Wood 1:6 figure dropping shortly – Tommy Mission, the 2nd figure in the new Adveture Kartel line. As you can see, he’s the emo member of the Kartel. There are apparently two versions – emo hood and dirty tracky and three different Tees (random) [via Gimbat’s awesome daily updates].

Touma x One Up -- Skuttle Genbu Proto Black (12.24)
Updated: New Photos (after the jump)
One Up will release Skuttle Genbu, the latest evolut ion of Touma’s prolific figure, on December 24th @ Noon in Japan (12.23 @ 7 PM Pacific) from their online store. As is tradition, this first drop will be the ‘proto black’. While good pics of Genbu have been pretty scarce, this newest species has an almost feral look with hard-edges some what reminiscient of Skuttle X. The sculpted shell really stands out – resembling a flower blossoming into a skull head.

Ferg – Doc Proto: Sword Cane Sneak
Since the first teaser shot of Ferg’s upcoming Doc figure from Playge, we’ve been eager to see more. Now comes early shots of Doc’s weapon of choice – the Sword Cane. Very nice – the attention to accessories reminds me of the hyper-real accessories from the 1:6 world [via Collect and Destroy].

Ayo x Mist -- Dinoz & Orus
Buffalo Toyz, the new designer toys divison of Attakus, is off to a strong start. In addition to the Alyenz minis, they will soon release Dinoz and Orus, a very cool collaborative project from Ayo (Etienne Aillaud) and Mist. As you might have guessed from the pics, Mist designed the Orus rider while Ayo designed the Dinoz.
This two-figure set looks great. It has a strong buddy vibe with excellent character design. Orus’s removable helmet is a nice touch which allows collectors to choose whether they’d like a toned down display or one turned up a few notches. The figures are medium sized – Dinoz measures almost eight inches from nose to tail. Three colorways are planned – Purple Rainbow , Brown Chrome, and Black.
Definitely on our list for 2010. More as it comes.

Touma – Little Trickers Gunmetal in January
It’s been a wait, but we’re pretty sure it’s been worth it. Play Imaginative will release Touma’s Little Trickers minis in January 2010. The series is basically a super-deformed-ish history of Touma’s characters from his signature figures down to some of the more less seen ones. To celebrate the long-awaited release, Play Imaginative has will release a special Gunmetal edition (450 sets total) exclusively for the launch event. If we had to guess, we’d say the launch would be in Asia (hey that’s what we get paid the huge salaries for). At any rate, we’re looking forward to both the regular color edition as well as the very slick Gunmetal figs.
Mutant Vinyl Hardcore Doji San
Mutant Vinyl Hardcore’s latest project is finally complete and has been sent off to Monstre Hero to finally get casted in resin! Last time we saw Doji San, he was about 80% complete with no arms or legs [HERE]. Now he is 100% complete along with his Oni and Cyclops Masks (seen below). We are now eagerly awaiting the release of this figure. LASH also mentions that Doji San may come with sake bottles or a staff. Detailed shots after the jump.

Ashley Wood x ThreeA – WWR Dropcloth
Ashley Wood and ThreeA continue to keep collectors on edge with news of the next great ‘bot just over the horizon. One word is on the mind of nearly all WWR collectors – Dropcloth. Anticipation has built as Ashley has shown increasingly revealing sneak peeks. Here’s what we know for sure – the 12” figure is coming shortly and will be available at an unheard of $98 for a WWR ‘bot. In addition to the singles, there will be a four-pack offered at some point. Veering into speculation, many collectors are guessing that the XMAS03 special (12.23, 4:59 PM PST) will be the pink Dropcloth teased below.
From the pics, Dropcloth is shaping up nicely with each edition apparently having a different main weapon. Speaking of gear, the element that leaps right out is the combat ‘kilt’. Next up, the pouches are stunning in number and detail. Plus, be sure to note the severed head. Finally and perhaps most importantly, Dropcloth seems capable of some seriously nice poses.
If you’re one of likely many collectors who have wanted a WWR figure but have wrestled with the price, you’ll want to keep an eye out for Dropcloth. Just maybe the WWR ‘bot for you. Watch the ThreeA production blog for the latest word.
