The Lost Underground Art Project (12.15)

Many consider it the “best ever”.  It’s brought viewers 5+ years of intrigue, mystery, and suspense.  Lost is more than a mere TV show, it’s a phenomenon.   One that now has its own art show.

Presented by Ronie Midfew Arts and DamonCarltonAndAPolarBear.com, The Lost Underground Art Project show opens tomorrow, December 15th (7-10 PM) @ Gallery 1988 Los Angeles.  The title refers to the 16 limited-edition silkscreen posters created by artists in celebration of the show’s final season.  Each was limited to 300 pieces and each is sold out.  Come to the show and see all 16 under one roof.  There’s more to the story though.

Gallery 1988 has also invited twenty plus artists to create original work based on Lost.  The talented lineup includes Alex Pardee, Ben Strawn, Carlos Ramos, Chris Ryniak, Dany Lydersen, Dan May, Danielle Buerli,  Edwin Ushiro, Eric Fortune, Jeff McMillan, Jeremy Asher Lynch, Julian Callos, Ken Garduno, Kirk Demarais, Lauren Gregg, Leontine Greenberg, Luke Berliner, Mark Bodnar, Mark Brown, Martin Wittfooth, Misha, Ralph Cosentino, Scott Campbell, Wade Schin, 64 Colors, Brent Nolasco, Dave Pressler, Jason Limon, Jeremiah Ketner, Jesse Hernandez, Jon Bugerman, KaNo, Leah Palmer, Lunabee, Motorbot, Nathan Spoor, Nemo, Pocketwookie, Reactor 88, Scribe, and Pretty in Plastic.

Based on the list above, we’re anticipating some sweet custom toys / sculptures as well as numerous original paintings.  Finally, be prepared – come early.  Apparently fans are already lining up which is awesome, incredible, and just a little over the top if you ask us.

Martin Hsu – Audacious Rooster Giclee

This is a beautiful image and seems to setup a battle between the rooster and the centipede. And there’s the little matter of the Rooster’s rider.  An enigmatic story delivered in a stylishly elegant aesthetic.  Hit the jump for more pics.

Natural Resources 2 (12.18.09)

Bigshot Toyworks’s  Natural Resources artist custom show is on the move.  Natural Resources 2 opens this Friday, December 18th 2009 (7-11 PM) @ Satellite Gallery in Asheville, NC.  Over 40 artists have created custom interpretations of Mike Burnett’s DIY  wood figures – Neighborwood and the new Joe Schmoe.  The artist roster includes Martin Ontiveros, MAD, Mark Nagata,Chris Ryniak, Monstrehero, Le Merde and more.

Mai Hiro: Chase Spiki Giveaway + New Web Shop

Mai Hiro is ready for the holidays with a brand-new web site and web shop.  To celebrate, the studio has teamed up with Vinyl Pulse to bring you a splash of red -- in the form of the Assassination Chase Ninja Spiki figure created by Nakanari and produced by Kuso Vinyl.  One lucky reader will win  one of these rare chase figures -- simply post a comment by the deadline of Monday, December 21st @ 8 PM PST.
