Shake, shake, shake… Hmm, maybe that’s search, search, search ;-) The result is more customs for the DesignerCon Custom Yoka show (11.21) in Pasadena. DKE Toys Graveyard Sale @ DesignerCon (11.21)
For quite sometime distributor DKE Toys has been amassing their own version of the ‘Island of Misfit Toys’ known simply as the ‘graveyard’ located where else, but under the stairs. It’s the resting place for misshapen toys, ones missing a limb or two or bearing an unfortunate scuff or manufacturing anomaly (‘flaw’ is just a bit too judgmental). These forgotten toys are adrift without purpose until now.
DKE Toys will offer up these damaged and less than perfect toys via their Graveyard Sale @ DesignerCon (11.21) in Pasadena. You might think why would I want that stuff ? It’s all a matter of perspective – for customizers this is pure gold, gold at rock bottom prices – the best kind. Kit bashers looking for spare parts ? Perfect. Better yet all the proceeds from the Graveyard sale will be donated to the LA Fire Departments ‘Spark of Love’ program to purchase holiday toys for children in need.

Buff Monster DesignerCon Exclusive Figure
Buff Monster will drop a special hand-painted DesignerCon exclusive for the mother of all holiday toy shows. These deep green pentagram enthralled 3” figures are 100% handpainted and finished off with a sweet high gloss polyurethane topcoat. Spots of transparent GID spray paint bring some glow action to the party.
The figures include a signed and numbered silkscreen print and come in a box silkscreened by Buff Monster. Limited to ten pieces (+ 1 A/P), the Buff Monster DesignerCon figures will be available at Buff Monster’s booth for $200 each this Saturday, November 21st in Pasadena. The Pink One has also been working overtime on new one-off customs – drop by to check ‘em all out.

Sam Flores – Bestia Extrana Kid Dragon Golden Edition
Bestia Extraña, the 1st Pop Surrealism gallery in Columbia, are now taking preorders for their exclusive Kid Dragon Golden Edition by Sam Flores. The figure will be released in conjunction with the December 4th (7-10 PM) opening of their Bastards and Hunk show featuring eight Colombian Graffiti artists and international guest Sam Flores who will be signing the figure at the event. Limited to 100 pieces, the Kid Dragon Golden Edition produced by The Loyal Subjects in conjunction with Upper Playground will set ya back $125 (+ shipping). Preordered figures will ship on December 9th.

BUDS Series 3 is Ready to Detonate
Jamungo’s BUDS Series 3 mini-figs should be in stores as we write this or very shortly. In our opinion, this is the best series yet featuring 15 artist designs with a variety of BUDS heads and two very special pieces (Squadt and Crappy Cat designs). The roster includes MAD, Jesse Ledoux, Yuck, Jon Burgerman, FERG, Superdeux, Aesthetic Apparatus, VanBeater, Pedini, Kenn munk, saurkids, Jim Koch, Frank Kozik, oooOOOooo (Brian Morris)and Muttpop.
There are two designs under wraps including one done by Muttpop – check the teaser below. Both unseen BUDS will be unveiled at… wait for it… DesignerCon (11.21). You knew it was coming, right ??? If you don’t already have the new figs, be sure to come by the show and pick some up.
Shawnimals - Professor Fliggins #11: Hobo Sandwich
Professor Fliggins’s journey is nearing an end. His eleventh discovery (of 12) is the Hobo Sandwich who he accidentally took a bite out of before he realized his mistake. Hit the jump for the official tale of the Hobo Sandwich. Limited to 100 pieces, this handmade plush (6” x 6” x 2”) includes Lunch Bunch buddy accessories, a note from mob, a goody bag with a sticker + 2 buttons – all in a brown paper packaged tied with string for the handmade touch.

Kidrobot Pops Up in Japan
Kidrobot has been making moves in Japan. First there was MoMa Japan and then the Puma x Kidrobot custom show. They've also just announced kidrobot.jp, all Kidrobot in Japanese. Next ? A Kidrobot Pop Up at the Seibu department store in Shibuya (Tokyo, Japan). Open for one shining week (11. 17- 11.23), the Pop Up features all manner of KR toys and apparel. The Pop Up will go out with a bang on November 22nd and 23rd with live painting from Mori Chack and Devilrobots [Seen on Kidrobot's Kronikle]

Gold Coin x Argonaut Resins – Stick Up!
Stick Up!, Gold Coin's first toy is ready to rock after an extended period of careful development. Limited to ten pieces, the first wave of this resin figure with bendy limbs is done in the original red color scheme. The figures come hand-numbered with a COA signed by artist Ray 'Three' Robinson and by Argonaut Resins. Stick Up! ships in a stylish window box. Stick Up! Wave 1 figures will be available for $99 each from the Argonaut Resins web shop.
New Crop of ‘Wood ‘Qees from Toy2R
Toy2R is expanding its line of Woodgrain style Bear Qees with five new 8” figures including three featuring a Saeple wood style (think Mahogany) as well as new versions of the two original sold out editions (light and darks), this time without the Qee logo on the belly. The three Saeple designs are light saeple matte, light saeple gloss, and dark saeple matte. The new Saeple designs seem a cut above the original woodgrain styles. We’re looking forward to seeing the matte finish pieces in person for comparisons sake.
Wood is hot. The growing trend towards creating designer toys from the natural material with inherent appeal offers an alternative to the gold standard – rotocast vinyl. Toy2R’s faux wood approach is interesting in part because of conservation concerns, though the use of sustainable wood by Noferin may promise the best of both worlds.

Brent Nolasco -- Transfinite for the Custom Yoka Show
We tried. I mean we really tried to put Brent Nolasco's gnarly and totally awesome Transfinite Yoka custom into last night's DesignerCon Custom Yoka Show preview. But the beastie just wasn't having any part of that. Fearing for our safety and that of the other Yokas we decided to play it safe and give him his very own post.
Brent created or is that genetically mutated Transfinite from adFunture's 3" Yoka with the use of acrylic paint, Aves Sculpt and found objects. This mash-up looks great, has major creep factor (a plus, honest!), if you look closely still retains bits of its original Yoka DNA.

Seen: Doktor A's Freak Mechanique
Doktor A's Freak Mechanique opened this past Saturday (11.14) @ Lift in Detroit. While Doktor A wasn't able to make the trip across the pond, he joined the considerable crowd at the opening via web video link. We were also MIA, but thankfully the kind folks at Lift sent along these pics of the evening.
Dok is a master of meshing found objects with vinyl toys as seen by his stupendous sculptures in this show. His artistry and technical excellence give tangible form to the world of Retropolis which he brings into clearer focus with each piece and each show.
Freak Mechanique also features several paintings and drawings. Check out all the great work over at the show preview page.
Capping off the show was the prototype of the new Doktor A 5" MAD*L. The figure will be released simultaneously On November 21st at Lift's DesignerCon booth as well as in their online store. Pics of the final production piece shortly. In addition to the new production MAD*L, Lift is planning on bringing a small selection of the Freak Mechanique pieces with them to DCon for SoCal fans to enjoy.

Exclusive Designer Con Luchador Toast by Dan Goodsell
Yet another Designer Con exclusive has been announced. That being the exclusive Luchador Toast plush by Dan Goodsell. MINDstyle: Buff Bunny 2010
MINDstyle shares with us a first look at Buff Monster’s new toy, Buff Bunny. This 8” figure has finally come into fruition over the last few months. Rather than being released in Summer 09 (for obvious reasons), this is set to be released in the Second Quarter of 2010. More news to come very soon!
