Sam Flores – DesignerCon Kid Dragon Blue Edition

The Loyal Subjects strike again with their second DesignerCon release announcement.  Fresh on the heels of Joe Ledbetter’s Terror and Magnus Lava Edition, comes word of the  DesignerCon exclusive Kid Dragon Blue Edition by Sam Flores.  The third edition of the ethereal Kid Dragon from Upper Playground and The Loyal Subjects builds on the sold-out success of the original and Upper Playground exclusive colorways.  Kid Dragon is arguably one of the top releases of ‘09 with a sophisticated aesthetic arising from an elegant design.  The dragon seemingly floats on clouds above and below the display surface thanks to its three separate pieces.

Limited to just 99 pieces, the Blue Kid Dragon will be available for pre-order exclusively at DesignerCon this Saturday, November 21st in Pasadena at The Loyal Subjects booth.  Collectors who pre-order the figure will be given invites to a private release party on December 2nd in Los Angeles with Sam Flores in attendance.

Mike Burnett – Average Joe Schmoe DIY Wood Figures

Mike Burnett has been creating custom and very limited edition awesome designer toys in wood for quite some time now.  By working with Bigshot Toyworks, Mike’s making the magic of his wood toys accessible to a wider audience in the form of production DIY figures.

First there was Neighborwood, and now there’s the excellent Average Joe Schmoe DIY figure.  Just released by Bigshot, Average Joe Schmoe features the intersecting 2.5D design seen in many of Mike’s hand-done figures.  And it gets better – they stack.  Joe is available in both 5” and 10” sizes.  To see what some amazing artists have done with this new platform, check out photos from the  Natural Resources touring art show. Expect to see Average Joe Schmoe at your favorite shop in two – three weeks.

Joe Ledbetter -Terror & Magnus Lava @ DesignerCon (11.21)

It's almost here. The Loyal Subjects will release Joe Ledbetter's Terror (8")and Magnus (3") Lava edition figure set at DesignerCon this Saturday, November 21st for $130/set.   Limited to just 99 sets, the Lava edition features a black design with pink accents and continues the tradition of highly sought after 'Lava' figures.    This third edition of Terror and Magnus follows the sold out regular and European editions.   Fresh off his five city European Amalgamation Tour, Joe Ledbetter will be signing at 10:30 AM  in the The Loyal Subjects DesignerCon booth.  Stay sharp if you want to catch these molten predators.

Proto Monday >> Angry Woebots x Silent Stage -- Panda King

Happy Proto Monday.  We've got something special for you this morning. We've been waiting awhile for an original Angry Woebots figure.  Not for much longer! Here's the very first look at the upcoming Panda King resin by Angry Woebots and Silent Stage in unpainted proto form.  The impending release is the culmination of a journey that began when Silent Stage laid eyes on Angry Woebots's sketch from '04.  Shown here without his crown, this beastly Panda stands 8+" tall and is just as wide at the elbows -- he's a big 'un.

Silent Stage will show the Panda King proto at DesignerCon this Saturday, November 21st @ the Pasadena Convention Center with an online release shortly after. With a bit of luck, the Panda King proto will be shown fully painted in all of its regal glory.  Limited to 60 pieces, the first edition will be hand-painted by Angry Woebots and come with a mini print in a custom box.
