Seen: Mimobot Pop-Up Opening Party @ Munky King

 14-DSC_0959

Munky King officially kicked off the opening of the 1st ever Mimobot Pop-Up store on Thursday evening.  The rear portion of Munky King is now a one stop shop for everything Mimobot.  Hello Kitty drives? Yup. Star Wars? Yup.  Tokidoki… you get the idea.  Filling in for his ill brother, Jason Han painted live at the event on a wood panel with very pleasing results.  With every purchase made, customers earned raffle tickets good for plenty of Mimobot loot including free Mimobot drives and iPhone skins.

We incorrectly reported that the Pop-Up exclusive Mimobot would be released last night.  It turns out that it will be released towards the end of the month.  More news as we get it – from what we hear it should prove quite popular.

Amanda Visell – Trojan Pegaphunt

AV 1

Woot!  This is so awesome that describing it almost seems besides the point.  But then again, that’s what I get paid the big bucks for ;-)   You're looking at Amanda Visell's Trojan Pegaphunt metal sculpture produced by the wizards at Fully Visual

The Trojan Pegaphunt is a sturdy chunk of metal destruction (4.5" x 3.24") and true to his name, he comes with a surprise... five to be exact.  An army of five lil 'phunt shock troops are hidden within.  Once inside the enemy compound, they are free to open the hatch on the back and get the party started their way.

First seen  in Amanda's original painting for last year's Kaiju Monster Invasion at Art Basel Miami, this Trojan Pegaphunt joins her growing metal army which began with the previously released Axephunts and the Apocalypt-Ephunts.  In fact if you have the Apocalypt-Ephunts, you can add those solider 'phunts into the Trojan Pegaphunt -- the more destruction the merrier.

Fully Visual will release the Trojan Pegaphunt next Tuesday, November 10th @ 11 AM PDT in their online store.  It will be available in four editions: Antique Silver (25 pieces), Antique Copper (25 pieces), Antique Brass (25 pieces), and Antique Gold (25 pieces). Each Trojan Pegahunt (w/5 'phunt shock troops) will retail for $130.  We've seen these in person and they are super cool.

BUDs Series 3 Preview

yuck

Now these are nice.  FERG just pulled the back curtain on Jamungo’s upcoming BUDs Series 3 with four  really nice teaser shots on the Collect and Destroy boards.   We decided to be greedy and ask for a few exclusive shots so you could see even more of the series including designs from Yuck and Frank Kozik (redux of s1 on a diff. head).  Who loves you?

From the awesome shiny gold design from MAD to the super tight printing of Jim Koch’s, S3 slated tentatively for late December should be one to remember.  The artist lineup includes  MAD, Jesse Ledoux, Yuck, Jon Burgerman, FERG, Superdeux, Aesthetic Apparatus, VanBeater, Pedini, Kenn munk, saurkids, Jim Koch, Frank Kozik, oooOOOooo (Brian Morris)and Muttpop

BUDs S3 is loaded – while the classic Blow Up Doll bomb head is represented, there’s quite a bit of variety shape wise including the newer skllbud style flame heads as well as special one-off designs – VanBeater’s crappy cat and FERG’s Squadt inspired fig.  S3 should be one of the nicest artist platform miniseries in quite a while.

Rotobox -- Ganmetall Celsius Tribute 3: Ryu Hayabusa

ryu

Spencer and Steven Ong of Rotobox have just unleashed the third series of custom Ganmetall Celsius figures which pay homage to Ryu Hayabusa, the bad ass from Ninja Gaiden.   Limited to just 5 pieces, the Ryu Hayabusa Celsius customs are beautifully done,  capturing the essence of the character.  The facial expression sets off the no-prisoners vibe nicely which flows into the sword and all the all-black suit.   Ganmetall Celsius Tribute 3: Ryu Hayabusa is available for $260 from Rotobox Vinyl Anatomica

In case you’re wondering, Tribute Series 2 has been delayed for parts acquisition.  Series 1?  Bruce Lee GOD. These customs showcase Spencer Ong’s Celsius figure from Kuso Vinyl released earlier this summer.

One of our favorite toy spots in Taipei, Paradise Toyland, will host Yukinori Dehara’s Crazy Farm Village exhibition on November 13th (7 PM).  Wildly creative and energetic, Dehara’s original figures are small awesome artworks to be treasured.  If you’re in Taiwan, this is not to be missed.  Paradise will start accepting web orders for Dehara’s figures on 11.16 @ 1:30 Taiwan time.

Toy2R – Flocked 2.5” Qees

2.5inch_Qee_DIY_Series_Flocked_Version

Toy2R continues their finish fetish  (metallic, wood) with the unveiling of a new series of 2.5” Flocked Qees in a rainbow of colors.  These should start popping up at shops in January.  Interesting idea, though these are probably  best left as is rather than used as DIYs.

Tessetoys – Oakor Control Group

Fresh off the launch of their Oakor DIY resin figures, Tessetoys has dropped the first painted pieces – the Oakor Control Group.  These five sharply done pieces show off the platform nicely and are available for £23 direct in the tessetoys webshop.    Platform shapes go through waves – Oakor just might bring back the bullet dude shape popularized by the Visionaire toys of yesteryear.
