Munny is worldwide. Last night, Kidrobot, Puma and Japanese non-profit Design Association presented a custom Munny show @ the Meiji Jingumae Gaien Central Meeting Hall. Thanks to Kazuhiko Ito (Itokin Park) we have shots of the opening to share.
Featuring top talent in numerous creative fields including art, film, fashion, and architecture, the large and diverse group of participants created their customs around the theme of ‘Green and Africa’. The Munnys will be auctioned on Yahoo Japan’s Charity Auction site with the proceeds going to charities assisting those in need within Africa. The auction runs from 10.31 through November sixth.
Approaches to the show’s theme varied from traditional African cultural references to broader interpretations. Itokin Park’s piece (below, left) considers an alternate history in which gorillas discovered fire prior to man.
