Kidrobot x Puma - Africa Charity Munny Show in Japan
Munny is worldwide. Last night, Kidrobot, Puma and Japanese non-profit Design Association presented a custom Munny show @ the Meiji Jingumae Gaien Central Meeting Hall. Thanks to Kazuhiko Ito (Itokin Park) we have shots of the opening to share.
Featuring top talent in numerous creative fields including art, film, fashion, and architecture, the large and diverse group of participants created their customs around the theme of 'Green and Africa'. The Munnys will be auctioned on Yahoo Japan's Charity Auction site with the proceeds going to charities assisting those in need within Africa. The auction runs from 10.31 through November sixth.
Approaches to the show's theme varied from traditional African cultural references to broader interpretations. Itokin Park's piece (below, left) considers an alternate history in which gorillas discovered fire prior to man.

Joe Ledbetter – Amalgamation Tour in Rome (11.3)

Dragatomi Presents: Patrick Francisco In Rear Naked Choke (11.14)
“Rear Naked Choke” is a solo show by Patrick Franciso, which is being held at Dragatomi in Sacramento. This New York based artist makes his way to the East Coast with some new paintings, drawings, resin sculptures, and custom toys of course.
Like the jiu jitsu maneuver, “Rear Naked Choke” is a roguish attack on the senses. Francisco shows the moody simian characters he’s become known for, but adds new explorations that are stylistically rooted in the former. Predominantly muted color schemes give way to a bolder alter ego that at once reveals the odd—even whimsical—dimensions of the sinister. He has created, according to illustrator Jarrod Gecek, “an amazing little world of chimps with a disdain for public decency.”
Opening night takes place on Saturday, November 14th at 7PM and runs all the way to December 5th. Be sure to stop by the shop for some good times with some wonderful folks who know how to get a party started!

Kidrobot: Nutter by Kronk (11.27)
New from Kidrobot is a full 5” figure dubbed Nutter by South African based Illustrator Kronk. This squirrel like figure comes equipped with an acorn grenade with removable pin. Opening Night Of Duel Or Die @ ToyQube
Tony aka Nakanari just sent us over some pics from his show “Duel Or Die” at ToyQube last week. The Mai Hiro crew brought in a big crowd despite what the news reported about the poor weather. The fans were able to meet Nakanari as well as Dave ‘Outtamymind’ Quiles, who both took the time to do some doodles and sketches. Check out the pictures after the jump.
