On Sunday MINDstyle presented Family Tradition, a select group show inspired by the classic film ‘The Godfather’ @ De La Barracuda. Curated by Ron English, the show featured an impressive star-studded lineup including Carlos Bautista, Chet Zar, Clark Fox, Eric White, Francesco LoCastro, Genevive Zacconi, Gibby Haynes (Butthole Surfers), Mark Dean Veca, Mike Shinoda (Linkin Park), Robert Craig, Travis Louie, and Tristan Eaton. Set in dramatic fashion, the paintings were displayed on easels surrounded by black curtains – fitting the theme well. As a surprising and very welcome touch, MINDstyle offered a complimentary ‘Top Secret’ themed show catalog.
Family Tradition marked the official launch of the impressive Michael Lau x MINDstyle Godfather Original (marionette) ATC (Art Toy Collectibles) vinyl figure (limited to 300). This one’s got juice – bringing the Godfather of Urban Vinyl together with one of the truly treasures of American cinema. In addition to the original edition, MINDstyle also revealed the seated Classic edition and the surprising and crazy good Horse Head edition (our favorite). The Godfather Original edition in black will be available from the MINDstyle booth at SDCC next week.
