Wood Grain Style Qee Collection from Toy2R

Wood toys are  often beautiful in their simplicity, especially those that show some of the material’s natural grain.  Offering a twist on the appeal of  real wood,  Toy2R has just introduced its Wood Grain Style Qee Collection which uses a special printing technique to mimic the look of wood.  With this approach, the printed faux wood surface on each plastic figure varies from each other which is supposed to in part mimic the variation found in nature.

The Wood Grain Style Qee collection includes a wide range of Qees across multiple sizes and shapes including 2.5” blind-box in both light and dark shades (Bear, Cat, Dog, Mon, Bunee and the Toyer), 8-9” in multiple shapes , as a well as 16” starting with the Bear Qee.

We’re a little torn on these.  While we love the look of natural wood – part of the charm of wood figures is that they aren’t plastic but rather made from a natural material.  In their press information Toy2R points out their approach is conservation friendly in that it doesn’t involve cutting down trees.  An interesting point, though it seems plausible that the environmental impact between the two approaches might be a tossup since the production of  plastic-based toys are so chemically intensive.

Beyond that, we’re very curious to see these in the person as that will make all the difference – hard to evaluate these in person, as the subtleties are key.
