Seen: Sneaker Pimps ‘09 Los Angeles
If you’re a sneaker head, you’re almost certainly up to speed with Sneaker Pimps. If not we’ll summarize by saying it’s an annual touring show featuring custom kicks, high profile musical acts, top underground and pop visual artists, and more.
This past Friday (5.1) the ‘09 tour got underway with the first show -- Los Angeles, held at the Vanguard in Hollywood. House of Pain served as the show headliners. On the visual side, a group of artists presented a mixture of art installations and live painting sessions for the LA stop -- Estevan Oriol, Slick, tokidoki, Peekaboo Monster, and Peabe. Gaming also played a key role in the show with an informal game tourney as well as an exhibition of custom xbox 360 consoles. And of course, custom kicks hung from faux chain-link fences as is Sneaker Pimps tradition.
Here's a look at the show as whole. We'll follow up with individual posts covering each of the live-painting sessions. Click through for plenty of pics.
