Gumliens Dawnman

Veteran resin artists, Gumliens has gone vinyl in '09 thanks to the awesome folks at One Up.  While most of the attention has been on their Kirinosuke figure featuring a cool swordsman design, they have also just released a prehistoric man figure called Dawnman.  Like Kirinosuke, it's currently available in a first-run all-black edition for the low price of 2100 yen (~ $23).

Gumliens recently created three Soot Face Dawnman  (above) for OPA Gallery's annual Original Match Label and Match Box Art Exhibition (Vol. 8).  Having discovered fire through matches, the Dawnmen are now unfortunately covered in soot which has resulted in their ashen gray faces ;-) The little painted matchbook matches up with the show theme and looks great to boot.  While the black edition is cool, color definitely suits the shape.    The customs are apparently only 7100 yen ($78).  The exhibition opened tonight in Tokyo (1.09) and continues through January 26th.
