Ron English 8” GID Dunny @ KR Miami (12.4.08)

ap_F23_20081117063238112

The circle is complete…this wicked Ron English Dunny was leaked on the net quite awhile ago.  The two main questions on people’s minds at the time – where and how many have been answered.  Limited to 400 pieces, Kidrobot will drop this one at Kidrobot Miami  with a signing on December 4th  [6-8 PM] during Art Basel, the preeminent  art show in the United States.  It will also be available at Kidrobot.com

The skeletal version of Ron’s 3-eyed bunny is sweet by itself, in 3D it should really pop.  The rear design is vintage Popaganda with Ron appropriating GE’s logo.   We don’t really need to state the obvious, but we will – this will fly off the shelves.

How times have changed… 400 is now considered “freakishly rare”, a positive sign of the market’s growth for sure, the Dunny’s popularity and maybe just a bit of PR.  The collector in us still wishes for the days of editions of 100 or even 50… or better yet 25.

Tokyoplastic - Koguma Drops this Month

143

mphlabs has announced that Tokyoplastic's Koguma first shown this spring at NYCC will drop in two colorways later this month.  We don't think Tokyoplastic needs any real intro, but just to be safe -- they are the wizards behind the amazing flash animations fueled by heavy beats.

The diminutive yet  portly bear that is Koguma ships with a huge futuristic chair for all of his lounging needs.  The chair measures out at 8.5" (top) and swivels for display flexibility.  The Red edition will be available shortly in NYC at myplasticheart.com and myplasticheartnyc  with a suggested retail of $75.00 as well your favorite toy retailer.

There's also a slick white myplasticheart exclusive Koguma which is limited to just 125 pieces making it the rarest of the Koguma editions.   It drops  for $88 on November 24th @ 11 AM EST online at myplasticheart.com and in store at myplasticheartnyc.

Buff Monster - 10" Teddy Troop

A8A706_fullsize

Buff Monster recently pulled back the curtain on his upcoming edition of the 10" Teddy Troop designed by Flying Fortress and produced by adFunture.  This one is a mono design punctuated with his favorite color -- pink.  We're digging the combination of figurative elements (the cherries) with more abstract touches like the pattern on the chest that is also subtly echoed on the arms.

We want to see what's underneath the helmet (if anything).

Proto Monday >> Itokin Park’s Robby the Space Fireman

CIMG1981

Happy Monday morning… For today's Proto Monday feature we’re pleased to bring you the first shots + news of Itokin Park’s  (Kazuhiko Ito) second figure in the works from Kuso Vinyl  which marks a great start for the new company with four announced projects so far.  As you can see from these sculpt shots, Robby the Space Fireman features Kazuhiko's signature aesthetic particularly with respect to the face as well as the body shape.

While Robby feels familiar (and that's a good thing in our book) -- there are some new design elements here.  As you can see from the colored flat art after the jump, the figure design makes use of pad printing (or potentially spray masks)  which allows for the use of more detailed graphic elements than we've previously seen from Kazuhiko (water gun, backpack). In what we believe is a first for Itokin Park, Robby comes with an accessory, a futuristic water gun which apparently hooks via hose into a water pack.

At this stage release specifics are few and far between.  We're expecting painted sample shots sometime in December.  We'll definitely keep you updated.    2009 looks set to be a huge year for Itokin Park -- much deserved.  More pics after the jump.
