MINDstyle’s Mechtorians – 8” Stephan Le Podd by Doktor A

OUTDOOR

Ever since they were first shown at the ‘08 Toy Fair this spring, collectors have been looking forward to MINDstyle’s Mechtorians mini-fig series designed by Doktor A.  Best known as a premiere toy customizer, Doktor A's new line features original characters that capture the whimsy, elegance, and wonder of his Steampunk universe.

To introduce the Mechtorians in style, MINDstyle will release an 8" version of  intrepid explorer Stephan Le Podd in December.  The large figure comes in a swanky collectors box and ships with a collectors card.  Limited to 300 pieces in this original colorway , the large Stephan Le Podd will retail for $79.99.

Phalanx Studio’s Politichio Resin

politichio-web-fix-04

Phalanx Studio has just announced the availability of their new  Politichio: The Golden Nose and Lying Puppet fine art resin.  The new  5.5” piece explores the greed and deception of politicians through the  classic tale of  Pinnochio, the wooden puppet turned boy whose nose grew ever longer with each lie told.

The sculpt is nicely done – immediately recognizable as the classic character while at the same time subtlely  presenting  the modern aspect via the business suit and the ‘secrets’ attache case.  The figure is being released on a made to order basis and will be available in three variants – gold glasses, black glasses, or transparent glasses.

Joe Ledbetter - Aerophobia in Taipei (11.14)

taipei_print_a

Joe Ledbetter will open Aerophobia, his first ever solo in Taiwan, this Friday, November 14th  (opens at 1:30 PM, products go on sale @ 6 PM) at Paradise Toys in Taipei.  As the title suggests, the show is all about the fear of flying.  Whether you're interested in art, toys, or maybe a Tee -- Joe's got you covered.  No guarantees for curing your Aerophobia though.  To tide you over until the show, we've got a nice sneak preview complete with pics (after the jump).

For the art collector, there will be a large number of drawings,  several original paintings, and two prints  -- Taipei (11" x 14", ed. of 50, above ) and Ringo 101 (8" x 6", ed. of 35).

For the toy collector, Paradise will drop three show exclusives -- matching Red n' Black versions of  Sluggonadon, Gamerita, and Hammerhead (runs of 50 each) from intheyellow.  Paradise will also release 3 different Tees which we believe are limited to 50 pieces each.

Joe will be doing two signing sessions -- one on Friday from 7:30 to 9:30 PM and the second on Saturday (15th) from 2 to 4 PM.  This is a rare chance to meet Joe in Taiwan and a great opportunity to purchase original art.  For more, check out the show info on Paradise's blog.

Proto Monday >> Carnival Cartoons's Pierce and Nathan

We're proud to bring you a double-shot of vinyl for this morning's Proto Monday.  So shake off that morning grogginess and enjoy our exclusive first full look at the wax casts for the  next two Carney character  figures from Carnival Cartoons -- Pierce, The Human Pincushion, & Nathan, The Dog-Faced Boy.

Pierce and Nathan are being show together, as they will be sold as a set. Created by Jared Deal and Garnet Syberg, this new duo was sculpted by Eric Nocella Diaz who has worked on the entire Carney line. Both figures have highly detailed sculpts.  Pierce features five piercings -- two in each ear and one in his left brow.  The final production figures are sized to the same scale as the previous Carney figures -- Pierce will measure out at 5.5" while the Nathan comes in at 4".

The Carnival Cartoons figures are appealing in part because of their humorous back story which links each character to one another.  Here's the official tale of Pierce and Nathan:

"Pierce and Dogboy are the Carney family mischief makers!  Pierce is the quintessential bratty younger brother, and Dogboy is Pierce's pal, a loving pet, and...  a fur covered wingman!  Pierce relishes his gross-out gig as "The Human Pincushion" in the family sideshow act.  (He's got more holes than a boardwalk put-put course).  When Dogboy isn't doing double duty as the family's household hound, and Pierce's partner in crime, he wows the crowds at Barker's sideshow with his furry face  and outrageous animal antics!"

The first edition will drop in early December.  There will be 500 total pieces across five colorways -- 3D Retro Exclusive (50 Pieces), Monkeyhouse Toys exclusive (50 pcs), Plastic and Plush Exclusive (50 pcs), Carnival Cartoons Classic (250 pcs) and Carnival Cartoons Web Exclusive (50 pcs).
