Buff Monster for KFGU

DSC_0009

Intheyellow’s impressive lineup for their premiere Kaiju for Grown Ups (KFGU) series continues with the unveiling of a new figure from Buff Monster. Kaiju collectors will be relieved to see that this new figure definitely is done in the Japanese monster tradition.Though truthfully, we look at KFGU as In The Yellow’s artist series rather than Kaiju per se.    The design is a good representation of Buff’s Kaiju inspired art work, down to the drippy textures.

This first edition  is clear with pink, gray and black spray.  It stands 13cm tall (~5 inches), is limited to 100 pieces, and will retail for 6300 yen ($64). Dropping at the tail end of this month.

Tim Biskup x T9G - Rangeas

dsc_0083

We’ve waited for pics of the Tim Biskup x T9G Rangeas for awhile now.  Today’s the day.  Intheyellow has dropped pics Tim’s take on Rangeas which features what appears to be a completely redone sculpt. The Biskup Rangeas is slightly cuter and more streamlined than T9G’s original and loses most of the ‘creep’ factor (mostly because the trademark doll eyes have been removed).  The most obvious changes are in the facial features especially the eyes which have a Biskup feel now.  Additionally, the torso is now mostly smooth.

For the first release, intheyellow will drop Dueling Yellow Rangeas – the new Tim Biskup version and a classic T9G.  Both will be available on November 19th @ The Souvenir From Tokyo (SFT)  museum store located in the National Art Center in Roppongi (Tokyo).  Limited to just 50 pieces each, the Biskup Rangeas will be 6825 yen (~ $69) while the T9G Rangeas will set you back 6300 yen (~ $64).

There’s a strong rumor floating that this new Rangeas is the front-end of the Biskup x T9G collabo.  Next up ?  T9G will take a shot at one of Biskup’s figures. More pics of the Biskup Rangeas and the T9G yellow edition after the jump.

Proto Monday >> Itokin Park’s Iti Pinehead

DSC00323

Happy Monday after Halloween to you.  For this edition of Proto Monday, we bring you an exclusive first look  at Itokin Park’s Iti Pinehead in production from Kuso Vinyl.  While this figure carries on Kazuhiko’s  penchant for cute characters, it feels like a bit of a changeup from his recent vinyl projects.  With the bristling spikes, his take on the hedgehog is born and bred for 3D and takes  advantage of the possibilities of the medium.   The shape has some what of a wind-blown feel with the swept back ears,  the shortened front and elongated back which features a cute tail.

The sculpting is done (as you can see) and a wax cast has been created.  The next step is mold making. When complete, Iti Pinehead will stand 5" tall. The first colorway will be limited to 150 pieces.

While Itokin has released prior production vinyl pieces through One Up, Iti Pinehead should be
more accessible and more affordable to a wider collector base.  For the data-obsessed out there (hmmm, that’s all collectors, right ?), this is the third announced figure from Kuso Vinyl.  The other two are Rotobox’s Celsius and Nakanari’s Ninja Spiki.  We’ll also spill the beans and say that Iti Pinehead is the first of two Itokin Park toys in production from Kuso Vinyl.  The second design is a more familiar piece, very much in the vein of some of his existing figures with a few new wrinkles.   See more of Iti Pinehead (including flat art) after the jump.
