Andrew Bell's Giver Haiku Contest Results

giver_gangrene

The Giver Haiku Contest has finished and Andrew Bell has scrutinized all the doom and gloom entries.  Here are his results starting with the winner, Hellopike,on through to his choice for honorable mention.  For his efforts, Hellopike walks away with a Gangrene Giver vinyl figure! Thank you to all who entered!  And now, here are the results and Andrew’s comments.

The winner is.... Hellopike!
       enjoy the dumplings,
they will be the last you eat,
       I poisoned the sauce.
Andrew: I like this one, it is evil, right to the point AND contains
dumplings, doom and perhaps the posion is a disease. Bravo.

Second place goes to Boultini
       Kidnapped by Dumpling,
       A gravy grave awaits me.
       Curse my beefy tomb.
Andrew: Bumped up on bonus points for the term "beefy tomb"

And insectoman has the dubious honor of third place with his entry:
       Dumpling on the floor
       Five second rule is safety
       You thought very wrong

Andrew: I think i can find it in my heart to send you a little prize as
well! It's time that everyone knew that five second rule is bull.

Runner up status is bestowed upon Delial with a two-parter
       "Malignant dumpling,"
       said obese verdant demon,
       "to kill enemies."
       I wish I had not
       taken the offered morsel
       from putrescent hands.

Honorable Mention goes to quahogclam's "My ode to Joe's Shanghai's Soup
Dumplings..."

Waiting in shadows
Prey comes in pork and crab soup
       Shanghai Joe I stalk
       The soup makes me wet
       Literally, balls splash down
       Spoon cannot contain

Tristan Eaton – Vote for Change Campaign Posters

Unknown-3-6

Tristan Eaton has created a series of posters for Barrack Obama’s Vote for Change campaign, which makes it easy to register to  vote in the upcoming presidential election.  The posters distributed primarily in swing states feature quotes from voters about the need for change and Tristan’s retro, powerful and slightly sarcastic illustrations.  These score both in terms of visual appeal and their painful truth. Check out a video of the Working For Gas Poster below.

Thunderdog have just put up a pre-order for an open-edition 4 color silk-screen print of the Working for Gas Poster (15" x 24”) for $40. This is the first of three print releases. Next up, a series of portrait posters curated by Thunderdog Studios featuring art from Demo, Filth, and Tes One.    See the other posters after the jump.

Super7 Zombie Red Coffin Set

red_coffin_set_sm2

Fresh off the release of the Super7 x Gargamel Zombie Silver Coffin Set at Thrashout, Super7 is ready to rock another Zombie Coffin Set this time in clear red.  The set features the Hooded zombie (w/removable head and gloves) created by Brian Flynn plus three replacement heads to create Arachnombie (by Hiro Hiyashi), Zombeard (by Joe Huerta), and Escaregot (by Josh Herbolsheimer). That’s 1 figure with 4 heads.  Packaged in a foil printed zombie coffin, the set will drop this Saturday October 4th from Super7  (online and instore) @ 11 AM PDT.

In case you’re not up on the backstory, Dr. Killgore manipulates genetic material to genetically alter and raise the dead.  His most trusted creations are collectively known as the Snakes of Infinity.  When there’s not enough genetic material to go around, he relies on makeshift minions – his Zombies.
