Preview: Joe Ledbetter’s “Hunters & Gatherers” Show

Dropped by the studio of Joe Ledbetter to catch a glimpse of the artist working on his next solo show, “Hunters & Gatherers” (flier), which is set for an opening on October 25th at M Modern Gallery in Palm Springs. According to Joe, his inspiration for this show was a mixture of “Fantasy and Heavy Metal.”  Some of the finished ones I saw definitely fall in that category but there were also a few that went beyond and touched on themes more commonly seen in the oil paintings of Old Masters.  The new paintings showcase Joe’s evolving color palette and a greater maturity in the “stories” that his pieces always convey so well.  More pictures after the jump.
