Updated: Added pic of the ‘Top Secret’ Plans carried by MAD’s Dunny
It’s that time again! Kidrobot dropped Dunny Series 5 on Wednesday night (9.03). The series features 19 different designs including two mystery figures. Sold in blind-box packaging, each 3” Dunny retails for $6.95.
A Dunny Series release is always fun and this is no exception. We picked up ours from the mail place today, tore into ‘em (we’re professional toy openers – ya know), and set about shooting each of ‘em (all the pics are after the jump). Dunnys have always stood out because of Kidrobot’s willingness to push the boundaries both with accessories (one of the few mini series to have ‘em) and from time to time design concepts.
The accessories are back in full force here especially on MAD’s Secret Agent Dunny complete with two-part fedora (slick), magnifying glass, and secret document envelope which includes a tiny ‘missing’ ad for what we’ll assume our MAD’s upcoming toys with KR. In terms of pushing the envelope design wise – there’s Frank Kozik’s Mecha Dunny which is as far as we can tell is a completely new sculpt done in ABS. It’s rad – the details are eye popping including the valve wheel on the back. We would love an 8” version (yes, it would be $$$… but cool!).
<speculation>It appears that the Devilrobots mystery is just that, but not really a chase in terms of ratio. Huck Gee’s appears to be hard to come by and Kathie Olivas’s is maybe middle of the road in terms of rarity – a chase but not a hmm super chase? If we’re wrong, let us know! </speculation>
Now, the main suspense is seeing what the Golden Ticket Huck Gee Dunny looks like.
