Seen: Mad Barbarians – Mad Food Rock

DSC_3619_500

Machhan and Katsuya AKA the  Mad Barbarians opened their Mad Food Rock exhibition at Munky King this past Thursday (8.6.08).  The Japanese husband and wife team brought a colorful arsenal of their work including toys, large prints (some framed, so mounted on board), and plush.  In addition to the recent Mad Barbariman exclusives done with RealxHead, the Mad Barbarians also brought some of their older figures including a few custom pieces.  In a way, the exhibition is a retrospective of sorts.  If you’re a Mad Barbarians fan you need to check it out.

As the show title suggests, afew themes run consistently through the duo’s work such as food and rock n’ roll.  Fittingly, they invited Japanese pop singer Pommy of Myuury to perform throughout the evening and serve as the backdrop for their live painting which included face painting as well (apples on the cheek, anyone) ?

The exhibition continues through August 27th, so there’s still time to check it out. After the jump, enjoy a full photo gallery.
