I.W.G. Astro Krieg Minis @ SDCC

Rocketworld’s Insurgent Wilderness Gruppo (I.W.G) warriors have always taken it to lazy, wasteful and careless humans. Now, they’re ready to fight the evil-doing homo sapiens all over the planet and beyond. Here’s the first look at the painted I.W.G. Astro Krieg minis (3.5” tall) -- Titus the Grizzly Bear, Affonso the White Rhino and Hannibal the Mountain Guerilla. These hand-painted protos look awesome (the final editions will have colorway specific bubble helmets).
The Astro Krieg warriors will be available in three main colorways – Covert Space Pirate Black w/Laser Green Bubble Helmet, Classic Galactic Silver w/Ice Clear Bubble Helmet and New World Eco-Green with Laser Orange Bubble Helmet. Each cosmically-inclined warrior is ready for battle with their armored hunter space suits, bubble helmets, removable Jet Pack, Eco-Dyne Death Ray Pistols and Human-Skull Trophies. Each is good to go as a pilot in the I.W.G. Rocket Ship and the Astro Krieg Flying Saucer Attack Craft.
There’s also an SDCC exclusive Moon GID w/Ice Clear Bubble Helmet version of each of the three figures (100 pieces each). The Astro Krieg minis will debut at SDCC in Rocketworld’s booth (#4633) and retail for $13.95 in window-boxes.
We’re excited about these and looking forward to seeing the fully finished figures including the Jet Packs. More pics after the jump.

Easy Hey’s Kid Onion by Artoyz Original
![]()
Artoyz is currently exhibiting at the Bread & Butter tradeshow (7.2 – 7.4) in Barcelona. Of the most interest to toy fans are the two new toy projects from Artoyz Originals. We’re going to rock them separately, so first up is the very cool Kid Onion by Easy Hey. Very impressed with these first images directly from the Artoyz blog.
Dig the abstract pattern on the body which meshes nicely with the four shown color schemes. Rather than rely just on a paint application, the subtle sculpted details really add presence to the figure. The textures build to a very conspicuous finish at the top. On top of the very chill overall design, you’ve got a cool character from the streamlined and stylish face to the funky curved arms (note the itty bitty fingers) and legs. Plus, he’s got kicks. Color us impressed. From Kid Onion to the Elements mini-figs, Easy Hey is really throwing down with his character design skills. Click through for a close up shot.

Bunka Chaos Monkey @ Bread and Butter

First shown right here on Vinyl Pulse’s Proto Monday, Bunka’s Chaos Monkey is only display @ Bread and Butter (7.2 – 7.4) in the Artoyz Originals booth. The quick pic from the Artoyz blog shows the standard color, an unpainted one and perhaps a different colorway at the back. More info shortly!
Burning Anger Stomp (7.5.08)
While Squirm has been center stage recently, Super7 hasn’t forgotten about Stomp, the first figure released in their Snakes of Infinity line. Back with a vengeance, Burning Anger Stomp rocks clear red vinyl with metallic green, gold, black and red sprays. Love the retro look – especially the metallic gold hits. Wait… That looks like a toy from the 70’s… Yes it does, thank you very much!
Burning Anger Stomp drops this Saturday July 25th 2008(11 AM PDT) @ the Super7 Store in SF, online and from S7 Distribution Network retailers for $50 each. You’ve been warned.

Junko Mizuno – The Kappa Show (7.3.08)
Junko Mizuno’s conjuring aquatic spirits with ‘The Kappa Show’ opening tonight – Thursday, July 3rd [6 PM] at MOSHi MOSHi in Portland. For this ‘mini-show’, Junko has created three large paintings and thirty smaller pieces on Japanese paper -- each featuring Kappa or Japanese water spirits.
Junko’s work which blends seemingly cute images with a decidedly darker undercurrent and subject matter is quite popular. Given the smaller size of some of these pieces, this might be a great opportunity to pick up an original. The show pieces should be online tomorrow night. More pics after the jump.
