Touma - TuDo @ Fewmany (5.26.08)
Touma, the man of a thousand characters, is back with another TuDo. This cute little horned beastie makes his debut at the TuDo exhibition opening on May 26th at Fewmany (Wonderwall's store / gallery) in Tokyo. There's not much info on TuDo -- other than it appears to be vinyl and from shots on Touma's blog their should be customed painted editions for the exhibition. The real question is ... small release like Mao Cat or a wider release? We're waiting to hear back.

Raiders of the Lost Art
After a painfully long hiatus, Indiana Jones is back dodging boulders, Nazis and sword-wielding thugs with his trusty bullwhip in hand. The Raiders of the Lost Art group show opening on Saturday May 31st (7-10 PM) @ Capsole celebrates the life and times of the iconic archaelogist / bad ass. Curated by Nicholas the Ring in conjunction with Acme Archives, the show will feature original paintings, plush and custom vinyl of Indy. Additionally, Sideshow Collectibles is sponsoring an auction with proceeds benefiting the Down Syndrome Association of Los Angeles.

eBoy LA Poster
eBoy, known mostly recently for their peecol figure line with Kidrobot. recently released their LA poster filled with pixelated landmarks. It's about time LA received the eBoy treatment. Worth the wait though -- especially if you live here. Some toy references to be sure (giant Red Dunny), but the real joy of this is all the crazy detail and the huge size (46.8" x 33.1"). Put this up on a wall for hours of repeated viewing -- def. conversation piece. Need it? Get it from the eBoy store.
Ashley Wood's Bertie - Go Get it
Ashley Wood's 14" Bertie figure from Bigshot Toyworks is amazing. In fact, we were so impressed with it we called it probably the best toy of NYCC '08. And the best news of all... both the Dirty Deeds and Desert Rat edition are available for pre-order now @ Ashley's Bambaland for $300 each (+ $30 flat for EMS shipping). Each edition is limited to 500 pieces. They are scheduled to ship in mid-june.
Which to choose? Wow, that's a tough call. Dirty Deeds is great with the three severd heads and the dark paint job. But... Dessert Rat is loaded with weapons including the RPG. Buy both? Man, this is an expensive addiction! Where's my 12 step program when I really need it ?
James Jarvis - Hand Decorated Bird Gods
Just when you thought you knew all there was to know about James Jarvis's Bird God figure, he flips it up with a really special offering - twelve GID Bird Gods hand-decorated with a glass resin pen. These precious pieces are signed and numbered. . Wonder if people will get to choose which one they want as they are all slightly different. Delicious Dozen. They will be available this weekend for Amos gold members [Seen on Toysrevil].
Cameron Tiede - Analog Punch (6.6.08)
Cameron Tiede's colorful world teeming with lovable, quirky and yes slightly odd characters will be on display in a collection of new original paintings for his Analog Punch show opening on June 6th @ La Luz De Jesus. To tide you over here's a quick preview of three of Cameron's paintings.
Oh... did we mention that Melvin will make an appearance ? In fact, expect a special ultra-limited show exclusive edition. Illumination upcoming -- keep watching Vinyl Pulse for more info.

Gold Horselington direct from EWOK 5MH (5.23.08)
MINDstyle's Gold (and purple) Horselington by EWOK 5MH is the rarest colorway of the figure limited to just 50 pieces. Half dropped and sold out quickly at NYCC. The remaining 24 pieces will be available directly from EWOK 5MH this Friday @ NOON (EDT presumably) for $245 (includes fedex shipping). Last chance without going to the 'secondary market'.
OUIP Platform from Korea
Lately news on Vinyl Pulse has taken on an international flair beyond the normal players. Israel, Brazil, and now Korea. Good to see. Korean company Delitoys has just launched their OUIP DIY platform in Korea. The concept draws inspiration from a lightbulb for the head shape. OUIP will be available in a standard white as well as GID versions in an 8" size to be followed with a 2.5" version. While Delitoys has plans for Kinkirobot to distribute OUIP in Korea, the brand is still looking for distribution stateside.
Platforms are essential and yet rarely sexy or exciting. It's the nature of the beast. The difficulty of creating an original yet fleixble platform looms large. In this case, the lightbulb concept reminds us of Rolito's Black Polito to some extent. Then again, it's not exactly an exotic shape. Few platforms have proved to have staying power. Perhaps OUIP's move away from an anthormorphized animal will catch on. Click through for flat art of OUIP along with turnarounds.

Sneak Look @ Ekundayo's SURU show
Ekundayo has started to hang some of his paintings and ink drawings for his SURU show which opens this Saturday (5.24). We went down to chat and check out the art. If you're already a fan of his work, you need to check the show out. If you're not familiar with him, then this is a great starting point. In particular, he ball-point ink drawings are really sweet. He's using a new technique where he draws each piece on multiple intersecting pieces of paper and then rearranges them to create new emergent work. Enjoy this first look at his new artwork. Click through for two additional previews -- the ink piece is amazing.
