Peter Gronquist - The Revolution will Be Fabulous
Peter Gronquist has turned Gallery 1988 into a blinged out armory for his solo, The Revolution will be Fabulous, opening tonight (5.3) from 7 to 10 PM. Everything is going 'designer' these days from toys, ipod covers, stationery, furniture, vibrators you name it... Add weapons to that list.
Peter's taken replica or non-operative rifles and chain saws and given them over-the top blinged out treatments complete with well-known fashion monikers. Louis Vuitton Chain Saw, anyone ? Or what about a rifle with a faux Takashi Murakami smiling flower pattern.
I supposed we could ramble about art reflecting society but let's just cut to the chase... Guys love guns and blinged out guns... over the top. If you want one for your own armory, don't snooze -- these sell quickly.

Eyegore by the Pizz - Black and Silver
Since we first brought you news and pics of Eyegore by The Pizz, Munky King has been hard at work readying his tribute to Von Dutch, Big Daddy Roth and Robert Williams. Poppedd into Munky King only to see a wry smile on Patrick Lam's face -- "wanna see?". Do I ever say no ? A few moments later out of a box and a few layers of bubble tape... black and silver Eyegore Tests (there will also be a third colorway).
While both are cool and suitably shiny (it's all about leather and chrome), the silver really stands apart -- beautiful. Black tends to swallow subtle sculptural details -- the silver accentuates the shape. He comes with a beer bottle and a Luger. With no apologies, this toy brings Lowbrow back to vinyl toys. This isn't a toy for everyone, but it should find a strong niche within the niche ;-) Drop by the Munky King booth at VTN this Sunday to check out the black and silver Eyegores for yourself.
