Seen: MAD’s Stuff I Made

On the eve of NYCC ’08, MAD marked the return of his extremely popular MAD*L figure with the opening of his Stuff I Made solo @ myplasticheartnyc last night (4.17.08).   MAD showed the first new MAD*L’s in over a year: Phase: 3 featuring Aidamon, Army Bot and Slam.  The MPH exclusive Black Guard MAD*L (300 pieces) based on the Army Bot was released at the show.

The heart of the show were MAD’s custom 10" MAD*Ls done on the upcoming 10" DIY MAD*L.  Our favorite had to be the MAD*L Trooper — slick and yes, it’s been red dotted.  MAD also offered new prints and showed protos of the very cool MAD*L Heads Deluxe Pillows — these are big and look GREAT.

NYC toy collectors turned out for the show in strong numbers and stuck for most of the night.  Fellow artists and designers also came out in large numbers including Andrew Bell, Sket One, Tristan Eaton, Huck Gee, Brent NolascoKanO, Shawnimals, Lou Pimentel, Dacosta Bayley and more.   Most (if not all) took their turns on the collabo blank 10" MAD*L and also spent part of the night sketching for fans.

The show was a nice return for the MAD*L.  If you missed the  show, go check it out.  And be sure to catch MADS’s signings at NYCC in the myplasticheart booth (#866) on Friday from 5:30 – 6:30 and Saturday from 3 to 4 PM.  Swing by, grab the mph exclusive  Black Guard MAD*L (300 pieces) and chat with the man behind it all.  Click through for more pics of the show.
