Seen: Greg Simkins - The Well

Greg 'Craola' Simkins opened up his latest solo, The Well, at M Modern in Palm Springs last night (3.15.08). The Well featured portraits of creatures as only Greg can create -- primarily acrylic on wood with a few black and white drawings.  As one might expect, the show was nearly sold out by the time the opening reception began.  Greg's reaching new levels and everyone knows it including collectors willing to pay top dollar to own an original or two.  While Craola's creatures are surreal, he paints them with such skill that their lack of reality is  completely natural.   We dropped by the opening and shot these pics.  Enjoy -- click through for an entire gallery.  Props to a sweet show Greg, and thanks for putting up with all our photo requests.
