Michael Lau returned to the Gardeners with the release of Prodig and DJ Tommy (several versions) during CSBOOTH 14 GARDENER STILL at his gallery in Hong Kong this past weekend. Collectors eagerly snatched up the new releases and entered the annual
lucky draw (HKD 100, ~ $12 USD) for a chance to win rare figures including the all
white and black XLaugh figures as well as the large Nike crossover
toys. In addition to the new figures, Michael showcased many of his previous coveted releases from old school Gardeners to the recently released MINDstyle exclusive all-black 076 and 077 figures.
MINDstyle Co-Founder MD Young and creative Director Toby HK were invited to the crowded and well-attended show. Toby sent back these shots of the event. Internationally known for his toys, Michael showed his versatility and stature as an artist with three large paintings — each with an asking price of $25,000 (USD). With the Gardeners’ return, the drive to collect the rarest variants heats up once again. On that note, collectors should be on the lookout for the Michael Lau x MINDstyle black on black editions after the Chinese New Year.
